  1. Let’s just hope it’s not for real. Then tomorrow they’ll announce it
  2. Toonami bound for sure. In the lead slot. Cue TOM doing Hamtaro level antics in the intro that week
  3. Seems like the stream will be different than the channel. I can’t get OTA so I’m hoping one of the cable outlets gets it
  4. Naruto will be at 1:30 now. Are we’d going to write THAT off now as too late?
  5. I think they’ll do a Saturday premiere/ Sunday encore. They probably figured doing the reverse would give worse results since people would have a whole week to watch it and it is an established Sunday show, so they’ll want to get that audience in there- especially with no season 8 this year Real risky to lead off with a subbed show- but it’s such a big IP that I think it’ll get away with it.
  6. Unless they somehow show that his family survived and are out there somewhere and he’s got to go deal with that
  7. I got to say: they should do something to cap it off. A 500 episode show running straight through without taking a break or changing networks is a monumental achievement
  8. I do think we should be way beyond the “Lol Sony won’t let us have the big shows so here’s reruns or double One Piece” approach. It’s been a thing since 2021 that they haven’t made anything available to them that wasn’t already an established franchise on the block. I have to assume they are smart enough to realize by now that CR shows are a dead end. Can they not look at the Sentai catalog and find something? Hell, they are even a company that would love to help them pick something. Hopefully the dialogue between them is more than “hey let us know when you have a new season of Lupin we can air!”
  9. I agree. Those CR shows are going to be farmed out to other streamers (who will pay what Toonami can’t) and have plenty of exposure. Go after what’s available. Hopefully by now they’ve learned to stop chasing CR stuff. Aniplex seems to be another story
  10. The sad reality now is that Toonami can’t really get these shows until they are widely available. Between cost and CR wanting exclusive rights, it’s just an uphill battle
  11. Not happening. The head of programming knows its audience poison. They may try and justify it by saying it was confusing because they hadn’t finished Naruto yet, but you really don’t need to know that much
  12. What’s funny is that with every expansion earlier into prime time, there was always talk of them airing different things, but it always just ends up being KOTH. The FOX shows raise the bar to a level that the originals can’t meet and many of them can’t really strike a tone that’s going to capture that wider audience. They wouldn’t have gone that deep into prime time without having those shows. I fully expect them to bring back FG as soon as they are legally able since there seems to be a shift in strategy over at the Disney owned networks
  13. I don’t think it ever did well on weeknights in the early years, but they were forced to rely on it because there just wasn’t enough episodes of their originals to fill out a schedule. Not even AD had enough to strip out until it got to like season 3 or 4. Hell, I don’t think they doubled up on FG until they lost Futurama
  14. As cutting edge as AS seems to some people, they don’t really give things a chance for very long with the nightly lineup before reverting to playing it safe again
  15. That’s going to be an issue for them if they are expecting it to lead the block. It being available for a week means the main audience for the show will have already tuned in and seen it multiple ways. That plus it being subbed means it already has that going against it it is kind of sad that anything with the remotely wide appeal can’t premiere on Toonami because it’s on Saturday night. But they also won’t ever take the branding outside of Saturday either
  16. Without a doubt, AS will expect huge things out of it. That fan base didn’t even like the changes of s7, you think they’ll be receptive to this? I guess they will have plot elements like the other Beth, but I seriously doubt it’ll tie into the main shows storyline Ultimately, my main fear is they’ll force it to the block because they don’t want to have the slot to deal with and not much else. But it’ll be a subbed show that probably aired days ago and it’ll have both things working against it
  17. They’ve already had 2 TOM/SARA preview promos for it, which leads me to believe it’s definitely going to be on Toonami in some fashion. It’s still weird to me that they are doing this. The RM fan base can be a bit fanatical, but this will lack much of the flavor of what makes the show what it is. It seems like this will be tying into storylines of the main show which is probably designed to get those fans engaged. There is no proper season of it this year, so the anime will be all they get. I do think Saturday before the block is a best of both worlds scenario, but AS seems to have this aversion to putting anything they consider mainstream on other nights. But they have to realize this probably won’t be on the level as an actual season
  18. I agree with you, just don’t underestimate their tendency to overestimate an audience potential. Especially when it also means they don’t have to figure out a time slot for a few months
  19. It’s yet to be determined where else on the schedule it’ll be too. Lots of questions Is it going to be a Thursday premiere, Saturday rerun? Or will it actually premiere on the block? Will it have a decent amount of action? Would leading with a subbed show of any kind be poison for the Toonami audience, but not at midnight any other night if the week? It would be fun if they had sub/dub versions, but they won’t
  20. Yes mostly because CR still doesn’t have closed captions on most of they’re dubs
  21. Hey why not break Superman up into 2 weeks with DBZ KAI at the end? might as well while they are at it. Then they would quietly chop off 3am It’s their own lack of planing if Ninja and Superman were this far apart. This the one area they CAN control since they are both originals. They could’ve done something there Of course you can’t discount the possibility that CR is once again making MHA hard on them by withholding information on their dub premiere. Then they’ll fight them on whether they can have it, then finally, they’ll make them wait until the Monday before the premiere to announce it Whats annoying is that despite the fanbase being disgusted with this, they’ll be a huge effort those nights to hashtag and trend it
  22. https://www.animefeminist.com/crunchyroll-fails-to-meet-industry-standards-for-closed-captioning/ This is an article going over the current state of closed captioning from Crunchyroll Toonami plays an interesting role in this. Basically, if they air the show, CR has to add captions because all shows that air on TV are legally required to have them per the FCC
  23. Thanks to all of you!
