Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Another thing is what proof is there that it's not just a hoax by the guy? Until someone actually dies, there's no way to know for sure, but considering he's believed by everyone to be a genius, guess it kind of figures everyone would be predisposed to believe he's serious. 2
CorbeauKarasu Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 i'm not usually one to advocate for gun violence, but why haven't any of the security forces opened fire? has their training improved that much in this future?
CorbeauKarasu Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 their team potentially havingĀ a college kid reminds me of Michael from Witch Hunter Robin... 2

Really would have to be one hell of a genius to create something like that. Also, hard to believe anything that potentially lethal could get past FDA approval without being detected. Given it's the central premise the show is based upon though, guess don't have much of a choice but to just go with. So it's a cliche plot with an logic-defying premise haha.Ā Let's hope the characters and action are decent at least.Ā Ā 1
DangerMouse Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Ah, so most of the others are already a crew, interesting 1

ben0119 Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 The futuristic setting kind of reminds me of Ghost in the Shell. 1
CorbeauKarasu Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 permission to open fire...but try not to hit anyone? Ā again, i don't think these guys understand the function f a firearm... 1

CorbeauKarasu Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 i'm an optimistic guy and i'm all about giving stuff a chance. but i really think Act B has really let this episode come into its own whn i was a little shaky on Act A 1
ben0119 Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Well the episode went by fast so that's probably a good sign. 2
Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Smile. ~zap~ LOL Taken down after all that by a pretty face. 2 1
CorbeauKarasu Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 i like this ending theme, too. reminiscent of 90s songs maybe a little Pillows-esque? 2
CorbeauKarasu Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 3 to 888? Ā maybe yoiu'd have been better off staying put for a while, Axel... 2

I'm wondering if it's in any way analogous to a side effect but engineered. I mean I'm no scientist lol, but I imagine there's at least some mechanism by which it could work in theory after 20-30 more years of R & D. Kind of a flimsy premise but im not too concerned. If I understand Watanabe, the whole societal sickness thing is just a commentary on our addiction to instant gratification and the angle he took is just a convenient plot device.Ā He's probably not overly concerned with making sure it's all 100 grounded in reality. I probably would have preferred something less flimsy tbh, but that's not necessarily Watanabe's wheelhouse. 2
Toonamiguy321 Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 I dunno man, Iām pretty sure The Kingsman 2 already did this plot.Ā Ā The whole prison breakout seemed really forced to make the MC look good, while also ignoring common knowledge about prison guards. Primarily that they donāt carry guns and donāt wear ties, for the exact reasons depicted here. Is that why Spike Jr escapes so many prisons? Because they are all ran poorly in the future?Ā Ā Lots of style, not much substance. Kind of what we expect from an episode 1 of a Toonami original. I just hope they didnāt blow all their style budget on that episode, because I doubt the substance level is gonna go up any.Ā
Top Gun Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 I can fuck to this so far. Hell, I don't even need much plot, just give me 10 minutes of that insane choreography and Watanabe's fantastic music choices per episode and I'm set. Really makes me want to replay Mirror's Edge. 1

Jman Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 This wasnāt Watanabeās first choice. Ā He wanted to make a show similar to Space Dandy. 1
MasqueradeOverture Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 VA's are flat as fuck I just might wait for the Japanese. Can't believe I'm saying that for a Watanabe show. Ā
PokeNirvash Posted April 7, 2025 Posted April 7, 2025 Finally got around to the first episode, and much to my chagrin, I had to use Microsoft Edge in order to do so. It ain't a masterpiece, mostly thanks to Sentai's typical dub direction (Axel's VA easily gives the biggest damn of the bunch), but I dig it, the music especially, and I imagine that like will increase the more people try to break their backs claiming it's Mediocre, Actually.
