Trump says he wants to eliminate the federal income tax and fund government through tariffs.

Good luck with that one.  The IRS is a century old bureaucracy that has been getting fatter and more deeply entrenched every day for all this time.  It's almost unanimously supported by both Republicans and Democrats at every level.   So, no matter the intent, Trump doesn't have the necessary support in Congress to pull that move successfully.

In six months, everyone is going to remember exactly why this sack of shit was so unpopular.  Kind of a shame that the current administration couldn't offer something better, but unfortunately, some people need to learn the hard way.

The Biden administration has been really good for me economically. I fell into that sweet spot were my income increased exponentially in the last four years. I feel I am in a decent spot to weather any economic calamity that may occur. *knock on wood*.

I hope Trump voters face consequences though.

I've mentioned on these boards before how I recently achieved my goal of being able to order any meal at a restaurant without ever checking the price. I know that's a trite marker of financial health, but I've always used it.

To my surprise, I actually reached that goal in the last four years. I barely noticed any inflation because income outpaced it.

Well a lot of these people didn't feel their wealth increased under Biden, even though the inflation was a global phenomenon. They are gonna suffer, and many are gonna double down on their horribleness despite everything. I am not looking forward to any of this.

Quick math on this, because I've never quantified it before in my mind. Also without giving out too much personal information. I estimate my income now is a little more than double what it was in the pre-pandemic year of 2019.

For someone who grew up poor, it feels good to be middle class.

Why exactly do you want to immigrate then? This "go fuck yourselves, I got mine" attitude is very stereotypically American, and an attitude foreigners tend to hate about America. You specifically will most likely be fine under Trump anyway.

IDC what my financial status is, when I see market on a menu, I'm asking wtf it is. Not paying $80 for 6 oysters because it's July.

Just run me a steak, bro.

I go to the fish market for my seafood in landlocked ass OK, not gonna catch me slipping at a damn Charleston's

Speaking of, the sticker shock from the mere threat of tariffs will likely convince Trump to back off, like so many of his other plans.  Prices have to go down for him to be popular, plain and simple.

Because economics isn't the only factor. Why would live around the people who willingly want a tyrant to rule over them?

I get the feeling you'd be living in an expat bubble in another country . . . but if that's what you want, it's not exactly a bad thing, depending on your worldviews.

In fact, I bet most Americans wanting to leave after the election probably just want to live the expat lifestyle and not properly assimilate into another society with different values.

Here's an idea. Suddenly this is less "flight from something horrible" and more of a positive life experience. Even if I do this, I would try to avoid coming back to the US as much a possible because I hate this place.

Notice how the line for millennials shoots upward around 2020-21. Government response to Covid and Biden's policies lead to a massive increase in the standard of living for that one generation. They are the right age that benefits from a major revamp of the labor market.

My shitty opinion: re-electing Trump is like Brexit for America. The UK thought British exceptionalism was enough for them to pull through the increasingly glodbalized economy, but they are suffering and will continue to suffer. Fortunately, I don't think the US will be in as bad if a spot, as we do have the largest economy and access to both oceans, along with a powerful military. Still, American soft power is probably gonna wane.

I'm personally looking forward to them blaming the Dems, despite being in control of every branch of government.

Oh this is absolutely the plan.

They'll claim that the economy was super awesome until the time bombs Lex Luthor Biden left behind went off instead of noting that they inherited a good economy and once again drove it directly into the ground themselves. Failing grades for all republicans in the mid-terms will be blamed on dems totally cheating every step of the way [ provided people are still allowed to vote in 2 years... 'never have to vote again' and all that ]. People not being able to afford anything anymore won't be a tariff thing because the Fart Prince insists he knows how tariffs work but rather sabotage by political enemies and 'others'. And there will still be idiots who believe all that because Faux Noise said so.

"I work in the auto industry, 3rd generation. I did not vote for Trump, however I have pretty good insight why a lot of people did. It goes way back to 2004ish or 05 a few years before the auto crisis. The big 3 was loosing a lot of money, so I wanna say wall st journal did a story and cnn, and fox News did a few stories. They claimed the American auto worker was making $60-$70 a hour when in reality it was $25 26ish. And their so expensive because of union blah blah, overpaid workers who press a button, and leave work only to come back to punch out. The union members were pissed not to watch cnn how it was all faked. Well years later, trump comes along and says what they seen cnn is fake news.  And that's why they hung on to them, and don't believe any media, and trump can do no wrong. One guy said "wow trump isn't afraid to work at McDonald's" not realizing it's all a bs political stunt."

Trump advisors are talking about getting rid of the FDIC AKA the thing that prevents the Great Depression from happening again by insuring all bank accounts

It's most certainly a ploy to kill the dollar and supplant it with cryptocurrency. Sick shit

People over 60 will run to take their $ out of the banks, destabilizing them, and crashing the economy.

They’re already nervous. This news will push them over the edge

To add onto this, here is Elon Musk cozying up to Nigel Farage (right), the asshole behind Brexit, at Mar A Lago.
