Well, he proved me wrong. I honestly didn't think he was really going to be able to do it. Shows what little I know about the capability of the human bladder. xD Pretty sure mine would have given out long ago. Hope this is a sign of things to come and the dems step up their resistance before it gets to be too late.

The report is that he stopped eating on Saturday and stopped drinking on Sunday so that his body would be dehydrated enough for a marathon filibuster.

You don't need to use the bathroom if there's nothing at all in the tanks.

Illinois Senators Duckworth & Durbin have stepped in to give him breaks, as have others.

MEANWHILE IN THE HOUSE

Quote

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) successfully used an arcane and rarely successful discharge petition procedure to force a vote on Rep. Brittany Pettersen’s (D-Colo.) resolution to allow members who give birth or lawmakers whose spouses give birth to have another member vote for them for 12 weeks.

But amid opposition from Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) — who has argued that proxy voting is unconstitutional — the leadership-controlled House Rules Committee inserted language into a procedural rule to kill Luna’s effort.

That hardball tactic, however, failed Tuesday when nine Republicans voted with Democrats to torpedo the procedural vote, bringing key legislative action on the floor to a halt. Without adopting a rule, the House is unable to debate and vote on big-ticket legislative items.

So are a lot of people who don't look 80.

I love Jon, but I'm interested so i already looked. He's a smoker, explains it even if he did quit

I still think the only reason he uses tariffs is because he can use them unilaterally.  And with Schumer being the whiny bitch he was, we have to wait two years to possibly get the influence to undo them.

Interestingly, Canada and Mexico were not tarrifed…yet.

Following every aspect of the news and politics in the US for the last decade, even for comedy , is definitely gonna age a person faster than 2 terms as president 🫠😬🫠

All this so he can give tax breaks to millionaires and MAYBE remove tax on tips. I actually don’t like any of it. Billionaires should pay more in taxes and tips are earnings. If they maybe want to only tax a certain amount or not tax until a certain amount, fine, but no tax at all isn’t right either.

It's a poor and middle class tax hike. I hate the word tariff. Just obfuscates what's really going on, which is simply put... class warfare. No matter what language is used though, when people see the rising prices and feel the pain economically, they're gonna know. And the idea that this is to bring manufacturing back... puhlease. That's just to give the media a chance to talk about this and analyze it as if there's some kind of actual strategy at play here, but doing them by country like this in a blanket fashion makes it pretty clear that this is just ultimately another con. It's no wonder they delayed this whole announcement till after the markets closed. Just look at where the dow futures are right no and it's like ruh roh!

Man, he's in his 50s too. I don't know about any other guys here, but since I've turned 40 almost a decade ago now, I've found my need for bathroom breaks have increased. Kudos to him for taking the challenge at 55.

Still sucks that I was 39 when Trump first became president and will be 51 when he leaves the presidency ... if he does it when he's supposed to.

49 percent on Cambodia. Yeah, the clothing from sweatshops is such a threat for American industry. 🙄

That was a Tuberville push because Cambodia exports catfish and shrimp and Tuberville has declared himself the Mr. Nimbus of seafoods.

I wonder how these guys are going to fare when the inevitable time Trump is not there comes and all anyone remembers them for is having their mouths placed firmly on his anus with muffled "more sir" over and over?

Judging by the reactions from the pro-Trump crowd, this is entirely about making others suffer.  Even if they suffer too, they figure their whole lives are suffering, might as well make others feel miserable.

I noticed that suddenly MAGAts love taxes and suffering through the pain will be worth it because only woke people hate tariffs. Don’t matter that this is all a collection plate for the super rich. As long as the libs are owned nothing else matters

Comes as no surprise from a party that has embraced "empathy is a weakness."

MD will be here shortly to demonstrate how great everything is as long as you don't care about trying to be a good person.

I found out why Cambodia is so high, and it's really stupid. It's just because Cambodia exports much more to the US than it imports.

"In 2024, Cambodia exported goods worth $9.92 billion to the US, up 11.4%, while US imports to Cambodia amounted to $264.15 million, up by 2.7%. Total bilateral trade volume between the two nations reached $10.18 billion, a rise of 11.2% over 2023."

264.15m divided by 9.92b is about 2.7 percent. This mean the US has about a 97 percent trade deficit, which Trump is calling a tariff against the US.

The sad thing is the average American won't understand the simple math involved here. This is one of the many reasons Republicans are gleefully gutting the Department of Education.

Yep, I was right. Also, notice how any deficit below 10 percent is rounded up to 10, to make it easier for the bullshit "reciprocal tariffs." The ones in negative percentage points are net importers. Trump is punishing net importers. 🙄

Inside Trump and RFK Jr.’s Health Agency ‘Bloodbath’

The layoffs included 1,200 positions at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and 3,500 at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Robert Califf, the former FDA commissioner under Obama and Biden, called it a “dark day for public health.”

“The FDA as we’ve known it is finished, with most of the leaders with institutional knowledge and a deep understanding of product development and safety no longer employed,” wrote Califf in a LinkedIn post. “I believe that history will see this as a huge mistake.”

Meanwhile, RFK is eviscerating the CDC, the NIH, the FDA...  the WTF. I mean seriously, if the idea with this import tax hike they're putting on people is to drive companies to want to invest here, just ask yourself why would any of them want to do that in a country that's actively trying to make its people sicker and is opening itself up to being the likely epicenter of another pandemic. I admit maybe that's not front and foremost on a CEOs mind when trying to decide where to build a factory, but that and all the other chaos they're creating here can't be all that attractive to them.

BTW, wonder what the republican reaction in congress is to all these people in HHS losing their jobs?

The original New Deal and utterly massive investment nets into infrastructure, arts, and the like followed the Great Depression.  When MAGA’s are thrown out, you likely will see the same sort of re-investment and re-hiring if for no other reason than to get money moving again out of that space beneath the mattress.

People are getting stupid richer off this plummeting stock market or they will. This entire crashing of the stock market is on fuckin purpose.  Some already made their millions in stock dumps and they’ll make their billions off of buying stocks low knowing they’ll rebound big time

All according to plan.

Shame we'll never be able to hold them accountable even if it does come to light that they literally schemed this on Yahoo messenger or some shit.

Trump and his clan of cocaine ogres are already making a killing off their meme crypto. Then they got nerve to continue to complain about Nancy Pelosi and her probable insider trading

Is it insider trading if you see it from ten miles away?

I still took it on the chin with my brokerage and that was despite shielding as best I could.  When the all clear comes to lift these tarrifs, I expect the values to skyrocket.  Folks are buying cheap I bet waiting for that moment.
