1pooh4u Posted March 31 Posted March 31 This shit definitely isn’t normal and I cannot wait for the fuckin clowns to come and explain how Musk and DOGE are great. Costing us more to run DOGE than any “savings” they’re actually finding. How wonderful it is that the GOP members of Congress can’t seem to abdicate their powers to Trump quickly enough. How it’s fine that Musk cancels every contract that isn’t owned by him and replaces it with his companies. Really I can’t fucking wait. 4 1 Quote

That said, if he were to make it through the 4 years without turning the country into a complete post-apocalyptic hellscape, I fully expect he'll try and find a way to remain in power. He only floats this stuff now to get it out there and make it seem not so out of the question. Sadly it's not. If there's even a teeny tiny little bit of legal wiggleroom of doubt about what the law says, it's probably more than enough sadly for the Supremely bought-off Court jesters -- I mean -- justices, to come up with some crazy interpretation of the law that gives them an excuse to rule in his favor and allow it. Even more so if he ever gets to make another pick for it. 3 Quote
PenguinBoss Posted March 31 Posted March 31 10 hours ago, 1pooh4u said: Trump said “he’s not joking about a third term….there are loopholes and methods” Trump claims that Vance could run for president and make Trump his VP and then Vance would resign, giving Trump the presidency Who tells him this shit. I thought no one could be nominated for VP if they didn’t meet the requirements to be President. Example, Sanders couldn’t run for president in 2016 and make AOC veep because she was too young for office. Biden couldn’t stay in the race and tap Obama for VP and then resign. That’s ridiculous. Trump can’t be a VP because he can no longer serve as a President. It’s 2 terms. Fuckin clown. “No president can be elected to more than two terms” technically a VP is not elected, they are chosen, but in a sense they are elected because both are on the ticket when we vote in the GE. Didn’t the Democrats get around primaries under that theory w Harris. That she was elected in a primary already by way of Biden? https://nypost.com/2025/03/30/us-news/trump-says-hes-not-joking-about-third-term-and-notes-an-apparent-loophole-to-limit-there-are-methods/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&utm_source=pasteboard_app A convicted felon isn't supposed to hold office, either. André Toulon Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) He said he had a way to steal the election and he couldn't reveal it until he won...🤷🏿♂️everyone laughed. Ff to now, we can't figure out how he got all those votes because the numbers don't wash. He literally tells you his every move and everyone sits around like "naaaah". At some point, it needs to realized that complacency is never going to stop him. Got to cut his goofy ass off as soon as he dry snitches on himself. Pretty soon, the only way to stop him will be him literally dying and by that point, AI can be president. Edited March 31 by André Toulon 1 3 Quote

Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted March 31 Posted March 31 DOGE Plans to Rebuild SSA Code Base in Months, Risking Benefits and System Collapse This shit seriously frightens me. I thought a judge ruled they had to get the heck out of the SSA. Was the order limited somehow? Cuz otherwise, don't see how other than by defying the court's order they could do something this crazy risky. Unless these are just plans for what they want to do after they potentially win the legal battle over they're having access to it. 3 Quote

I'm not suggesting you are. But currently Dems expect GOP to self-moderate and then just wash their hands of what GOP inevitably do. That shit should've been over when they fast-tracked Coney Barrett's SCOTUS nomination, but they keep doing it. I agree that it's to take attention away from their fuck-ups, but that doesn't mean I believe that Trump saying he'll run for a third term is an empty threat. 4 Quote

Schumer and Gillibrand are US Senators from NY and they voted yes on the CR, if that’s not infuriating enough, they then go on to complain that the GOP is doing things like cutting Medicare, Medicaid and gunning for social security, all things they allowed to become vulnerable through the CR. The threat might not be completely empty with our corrupt SCOTUS but it’s an empty threat rn. We can’t go crazy 60 days into his term over a theoretical 3rd term. Definitely not when he’s doing bat shit crazy shit for real rn and the GOP won’t stop him and the Dems either can’t or won’t either. 4 Quote

Without going all night, ironically, cuz I heard they don't allow bathroom breaks anymore, so props. Longest filibuster in history was just over 24 hours though, so he's still got a ways to go if he wants to top that. Thurmond who set the record was able to take a bathroom break though, so that's probably not possible to surpass without exhorting to extreme measures anymore. 1 Quote
Raptorpat Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Quote The Trump administration now admits that Mr. Abrego Garcia’s removal was an “administrative error.” Moreover, Justice Department lawyers said in court papers that there was little they could do get him back from El Salvador, and have urged the judge overseeing the case to reject his family’s petition to bring him home, arguing that the White House cannot force the Salvadoran government to release him and that U.S. federal courts have no jurisdiction to order his release. While Mr. Abrego Garcia’s case is separate from those of the Venezuelans who are challenging the administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act, it raises some similar issues. Lawyers for the Venezuelans have persistently argued that their clients have had no opportunity to challenge accusations that they are gang members, and several have ended up in the same Salvadoran prison without any way of protesting their plight or returning to the United States. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/01/us/politics/maryland-man-deportation-error-el-salvador.html 1 4 Quote
Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted April 1 Posted April 1 And yet they had no problem springing the Tate brothers and bringing them over here. SMH Absolute BS anyway that they don't have the ability to get El Salvador to release these folks. If they got them to take them, they can obviously get them to release them. All the more reason these people need due process and sending anyone anywhere without it should be strictly prohibited, period. 1 3 Quote
PenguinBoss Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Damn, almost like there's an inherent issue in shipping people to foreign slave prisons with little evidence and no due process. 1 3 Quote
