It doesn't mean they think he's the best person of the year, just the most influential. Literally Hitler was once person of the year.

We all know why they did it, but that doesn't change the fact that even Hitler didn't crow about being Time's Person of the Year as if it were an achievement.  Making Trump Person of the Year is only going to fuel his erratic behavior rather than offer some kind of insight into the man who we all know too well.

Trump advisors are talking about getting rid of the FDIC AKA the thing that prevents the Great Depression from happening again by insuring all bank accounts

It's most certainly a ploy to kill the dollar and supplant it with cryptocurrency. Sick shit

People over 60 will run to take their $ out of the banks, destabilizing them, and crashing the economy.

They’re already nervous. This news will push them over the edge

I haven’t read the article yet but it would be hilarious to me to see him go from the White House straight to the jailhouse 😆

He wasn't president at the time of payments therefore it doesn't fall under 'official' anything no matter how hard he wants it to be.

And he won't learn a thing from this but maybe his fuming over it will push other things out of his head for a bit and slow down the blowtorch he wants to take to everything.

Today, the electoral college has officially elected Trump as the next president.

🙄

Of the seven swing states, the race was tightest in Wisconsin, which interestingly is also the whitest of the seven.

Usually, people who admit they work hard and play that hard are just about to say they ate the snow just that one time.

That’s the way to get ahead of things for sure.

I'd like to see him get arrested during his inauguration.  Never going to happen, though.

He's going to try and leverage something NY desperately needs to get Hochul to pardon him, or Hochul runs but completely fizzles out in 2026 and Governor Mike Lawler pardons him on day 1.

NY isn’t electing a republican governor w Trump as president because by 2026 he’s going to have the entire Republican Party looking like shit. (That’s the hope anyway)

We still have time and it’s not impossible for another Democrat to challenge her because honestly I don’t want to vote for her either.  Someone else doesn’t mean a Republican necessarily

Richie Torres in the Bronx and surprisingly Antonio Delgado (her own Lt. Gov) are both apparently exploring the idea. But the fear isn't people switching to vote against her, it's just people staying home entirely.

I can understand that. Once you said Hochul and Lawler that was my first thought “idw any part of this shit I’ll stay home” 😬

Very interesting how Elon is being credited for pushing the potential government shutdown with how much he's tweeting about the funding bill to stop it.

He's stealing the spotlight from Trump and methinks Trump will be showing him the door very quickly

I hope you’re right. Musk is a fuckin clown trying to be president through Trump because he can never actually be president himself. Although he’s got enough money to get a constitutional amendment

My shitty opinion: re-electing Trump is like Brexit for America. The UK thought British exceptionalism was enough for them to pull through the increasingly glodbalized economy, but they are suffering and will continue to suffer. Fortunately, I don't think the US will be in as bad if a spot, as we do have the largest economy and access to both oceans, along with a powerful military. Still, American soft power is probably gonna wane.

To add onto this, here is Elon Musk cozying up to Nigel Farage (right), the asshole behind Brexit, at Mar A Lago.

It's actually not at all surprising. Republicans currently control the house; they're going to soon control everything, and A-hole-elect controls them. The current administration hasn't really had any power to legislate for the past couple years. The only reason the democrats have gotten anything they wanted through budgetarily is because of the house republicans' utter dysfunction and reliance on the democrats to pass anything at all.

Still, killing this bill and shutting down the government now, right before Christmas, is just an an absolutely hairbrained idea, especially given their margin in the house is going to shrink after Jan 20th and there is no guarantee they'll be able to pass a republican-only supported budget any time soon. And the longer this whole thing drags on, the more likely it'll be to actually stick in people's memory holes. Still, now that the next election is two years away, they probably figure no one will remember this that far down the road. Sad to say, but as most people have the memory of a goldfish, they're probably right about that. Yeah, we're in trouble.
