Even without Cuomo there are three candidates to split the anti-mamdani vote, so they'd still have to all agree to consolidate under one guy.

Mamdani keeps digging himself a hole with the “globalize the Infitada” saying. He says he doesn’t want to police speech yadda yadda but when you have a saying that became a war cry against Jews, that’s a mistake. I’m not going to argue w anyone here about it or anywhere actually because the gaslighting about the saying and its meaning is pretty incredible. You can’t take a saying that was clearly meaning to be against Jews and turn around and say it doesn’t mean that. “No it just means globalize the struggle” yeah, the struggle against who? Jews, that’s who. So yeah Mamdani probably won’t get much of the Jewish vote in November and that makes things difficult because we’re like 12% of NYC.  That’s a lot when only around 23% of eligible voters voted in the last mayoral election in 2021

They will and the media is doing it as well. Mamdani has already said Israel has the right to exist.  Which is bonkers that we’re still doing this when it comes to Israel. It exists. Nothing is going to change that. Shit, Germany still exists. Our country the US, still here. Rawanda still exists. Russia still exists. Saudi Arabia, Iran, so on and so forth still exists. No one finds it necessary to say they have that right. Israel however….lol

I've been dwelling, because that's what I do. So take "All Lives Matter" - it seems pretty self-evident and otherwise innocuous in the abstract. But we know from experiencing the context that it is a response specifically intended to devalue BLM.

This in a lot of ways feels like that exercise, except every statement has 80 years' worth of subtext to catch up on.

"Israel has the right to exist as a state with equal rights."

Is that an innocuous statement or is it provocative? Because he's been called out for saying that instead of "Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state"?

Does he need to do a JFK speech where he explicitly lays out his position ("just because I'm Catholic doesn't mean I'm an agent of the Pope")? Or can we just get like a conversational reset to re-articulate the actual baseline positions without relying on layers of subtext? Otherwise the next six months are just going to be a complete slog.
