André Toulon Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 I swear getting medical was a fluke.... But the real issue is, they still like to lock up petit offenders...they still have non carded offenders in a chokehold https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/03/07/oklahoma-vote-legal-weed/ 1 Quote
Master-Debater131 Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Well thats dumb. The Feds need to hurry up and legalize it already. They wont because Big Pharma hates that idea, but they really should. 1 Quote
André Toulon Posted March 8, 2023 Author Posted March 8, 2023 I didn't realize so many states already had rec weed...almost half the country...wtf is the holdup. Rhetorical question, of course. 3 Quote
scoobdog Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 That was my immediate reaction to when I saw the headline. Granted, it’s apparently a really difficult thing to manage when you tax it like most states with rec laws do, but that doesn’t seem to be the holdup for OK. Quote

That's why I agree with MD here and say it's Big Pharma. They want to maintain the stranglehold they have on us when it comes to how we deal with chronic pain. You know they'd rather push Oxy on people than let people smoke something that can be grown at home. Quote
scoobdog Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 It's not Big Pharma. MJ doesn't "compete" with any pharmacological compounds with the possible exception of even more controversial pain management medications in the opioid class. BP is far more interested in expensive specialized treatments that are typically necessities. 1 Quote

People love gambling. I was in the city and a dude was begging for change outside a truck stop to get gas, so I walked by him and went inside...the people inside said he came in for gas but saw the slot machines and got quarters instead and now he's stuck. I would have given him change but I don't gamble and I'm not supporting that habit...maybe he legit would have gotten gas, but I know gamblers.... they're worse than junkies....they always believe they'll get it back. 3 Quote
1pooh4u Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 That really sucks. An article I read about the No vote made it seem like the no side just out spent the yes side by a lot. The No side just hammered misinformation into the heads of voters. They got no problem with alcohol being available to anyone over 21. Cannabis however is a no go. So dumb. 2 Quote

Not going to lie, I would probably toss a quarter into a gas station slot machine just for the novelty of a gas station slot machine but I'm not a gambler and would walk away after that whether it paid out anything or not. It would be like those claw machine games. I love those things but will only waste one try and only if it looks like I can actually pull something regardless of what it is. That one try will tell me if the claws are stupid or not and if they are stupid, I won't touch that machine again. Not a gambler. Quote

How could it be used as a weapon I’m surprised it didn’t pass cuz the laws for. Med in OK is pretty laid back. Way looser than NY by light years Quote

They claimed it didn't get filed in time to be put on the ballot in the last elections, but, some people think Stitt was sweating more people showing up and voting in the Governor race so they delayed it As for the results, I mean I don't think I've ever seen a state question like that where every County voted "No", but when less than 25% of voters show up...you get the results you expect from a desolate shit hole The weird fucking part is I never once saw or heard an ad for it outside of the WM app (app that lists dispensaries/etc), a couple from the VA asking for people to vote Yes on it because they couldn't get access to medical through the VA, and the Newspaper ran an article on it the day of I think. I did get a random auto text telling me there was a vote but I think that came from OMMA.. which if you don't have a medical card they don't have your contact info Nothing on Campus, I don't think one classmate said anything about it. No fliers, no tables telling people to go vote... it really felt like a not even 1/10 ass attempt I'm not sure how true this is, but, if it's true it takes the cake. Apparently quite a few Medical card holders were terrified of the thought of recreational weed being a thing because they were afraid all the people in Texas would buy all our weed and we'd have none That being said, I feel advocates really dropped the ball. I don't know if they thought people would just magically show up to polls with little to no hype in State where poll numbers are so bad we had an election between a dude who's wife has to convince him he's not a fish trapped in a Man's body everyday and fucking joe exotic... the fucking fish trapped in man's body is now serving his 2nd term 1 4 Quote
André Toulon Posted March 10, 2023 Author Posted March 10, 2023 Yeah, everything I read lead to voter turnout, and you're right...if you aren't in OMMA you probably didn't even know. But even with high voter turnout, I still feel like I wouldn't have passed but that's just my pessimistic outlook 1 Quote
1pooh4u Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) Lemme see if I understand this @molarbear people actually were scared cuz they thought rec would be sold in medical dispensaries? Leaving them w/0 medicine? I would think one would have nothin to do with the other Edited March 10, 2023 by 1pooh4u 1 Quote

lupin_bebop Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Yeah. They timed it perfectly to get it killed. Mostly, it was land that was voting. Also, there was very little campaigning or advertisement for it until maybe 10 days ago. Quote
