A month in, and I still can't believe this thing is real.  I play Elden Ring under a canopy of trees in my yard, and then when I need to shit?  Still playing.

I don’t have one, but it looks awesome even if it makes my old Atari Lynx look svelte.  Everyone seems happy with their Gabe Gear.

BEYOND. I still can’t believe it’s real. Whenever they iterate on it, I will get that, too. Can’t sing it’s praises enough.

I want to get the 512GB version. But I'm gonna need to save up some money for that one. (Luckily, I can make enough to get one in about a week or two. Woot!)

You plan on fighting me.....ON THAT!!!

I TRIED PLAYING Street Fighter 4 on Switch...buttons too close together and small for precision comboing.

I wish SF4 wasn’t borked on steam deck, because I don’t like SF5. Here’s hoping 6 runs well.

I basically had to abandon my play style to get into V. Maining Nash....I mained Cody and Ibuki on 4, but Cody is hot ass trash on V.

I really want emo prison Cody back...but push come to shove, I'll go full 1996 and go back to Guile.

Arrrg. Yowwwlll. Now if I want a pro experience from the master chief collection, I have to buy a steam deck? I guess it’s good to know it’s available.

I have yet to even see one in person...

Not totally surprising, it’s a bit more esoteric to acquire than your average pc or console:

and people aren't just busting them out to show off to strangers. Would I take it from you and run, forsaking every other possibility? Plausibly...

I got one because I wanted to play my Steam games while curled up on the couch or outside in my hammock. I used to hang out in front of my desktop more but not so much lately.

I know it's not a perfect device but I get a lot of use out of it. The only issue I've had to overcome was learning how to hold it. I have small hands so my wrists hurt for a while but no pain, no game. I made it through. /nerd flex/

Yeah my noodle arms get tired too. That’s my only complaint as well. Otherwise, this is quickly becoming this elder millennial’s favorite gaming console/device ever. And I’ve been playing this shit since the 2600. I can’t see me not using this and newer iterations for the rest of my life.

As am I. I can’t tell you how hard it’s been to not order it. I have a Steam Deck that is wonderful! I don’t…need…it.

But it’s killing me.

All of this to say it’s become my all time favorite “console” handheld, whatever. It just fits with everything in my life. This is all saying something from a lifetime video game dork.

So…

My steam deck’s internal storage got completely full, so now I have to do a recovery, but it requires a flash drive, and for some reason my mouse is gone.

So I haven’t played video games in two weeks and I feel bonkers. Like a crack fiend that would play any 8 bit game he could grab. And I’m realizing I might have a problem? Also, I’m like using the board like a blog right now, damn am I hyper…

I’ve hooked up a dual shock 4 and me and the boy have been playing every 2 player game we can. Tony Hawk 1 + 2, Vampire Survivor, SF4 and Castle Crashers have been big hits. It’s so fun to have easy portable 2 player.

Was on the fence about buying one of these vs a competitor's handheld. Wound up getting an ASUS ROG Ally. Came down to a few factors, mostly ease of emulation and access to all my game launchers. ASUS edged out the Steam deck for me and I got mine for a $150 discount so I am over the moon about that. Had it for about a week. Super impressed with it tbh. I played a fair few games to see how everything ran and outside of a little stuttering upon launch of newer, more graphically intense games, it's been running like a dream. I got it a dock, as well, so I can quickly charge it and plug it into my router and download everything super fast, but I ran it on my TV as well with an Xbox controller and it was breezy.

It's a little irritating having to swap settings between games so frequently but since it's literally as easy as hitting one button and swapping a few things around I can live with that. The 3 most demanding games I have played were Fortnite, Hogwarts, and Indiana Jones. Obviously these chunked the battery quick, fast, and in a hurry at max settings but it ran so well I didn't mind at all. Even got an Anker 737 to keep me going for longer, which has yet to happen and this has mostly been a very expensive accessory my girlfriend thinks is exclusively to charge her phone lol

Hopefully Steam OS gets a full release at some point soon so all handheld gaming PCs can basically be a Steam Deck. I love that there are so many options in this niche now, but the ease of use that Steam OS offers means I’m sticking with a Deck until the other ones run it.
