I've begun watching Yuri on ice

I was avoiding it due to assuming, like every other homoerotic Sports anime of the last 4 years that it would end with all the guys Paired up with girls and shoot down any chance of any of them being gay.........but for reasons I cannot say without giving a huge spoiler, I no longer have that worry, and will therefor actually enjoy the show

It's funny how the answer to not want to see a show that doesn't appeal to people is to accuse them of homophobia.  By that logic you're homophobic because you don't want to see lesbian porn.

dude, I watch Steven Universe, a show about Magical Space Lesbians having fusion sex:|

I'm just gonna explain why what you said is homophobic

you came into this thread saying that Trump was gonna get rid of Gay people on TV....I.e. you are admitting that you like Trump, because you think he is going to purge Gay people and make america a straight utopia of some kind

You are the most oversensitive snowflake when it comes to this stuff, and you'll be a lot happier when you realize apathy and disinterest does not equal hatred of you or your sexuality.

actively wanting to not see Gay people or be reminded we exist because you think we're gross is not apathy

if you were really just "indifferent" or "apathetic" you would not get angry when I make threads like this, or derail any thread I make on this subject

It's the only thing you talk about.

Every.  Single.  Day.

this ain't the ASMB, we're all kinda internet refugees here.  It's been pruned down to a fairly small community.  Be nice if we could attempt to learn what pisses each other off and maybe, instead of doing that thing first and alot, we try not doing it in deference to our boardmates.

Seems a simple enough thing.  I mean, I can sort of do it most of the time, and I'm an idiot.  So anybody should be able to accomplish it.

Basically, if this is where you're gonna hang, Mochi comes with the board.  Same thing to Mochi with Jman.  There's no reason you can't make some small attempts to actually accept that reality.

JMan is a cynical and blunt.  Mochi is a bit overly sensitive.  K?  We all know that.  So why is it so hard to expect that from each others' posts, and move on?

Mochi is the way Mochi is because of stuff.  JMan is the way Jman is because of stuff.  Neither one of you appeared from thin air on the internet.  You both have all kinds of experiences and things that made you the way you are.

Please, to the extent you are able, at least attempt to acknowledge that complexity in each other, and try to have some respect for the fact that you are now, and for as long as you both shall live, boardmates.

You know some of who each other are.  So - nothing either of you posts should particularly shock the other.  Unless one of you actually started to be nice to the other one.  That'd be FUCKED UP WEIRD AS FUCK.

But while Jman shouldn't be shocked that Mochi is posting about general gayness, and Mochi shouldn't be shocked that Jman seems to like almost nothing anybody posts about more or less -

It's not all there is to either one of you.  There's a lot that neither one of you gets about why you are the way you are and do the things you do and post the things you post.

Try to respect that, and try to respect each other, and if not that, try to respect that you're both here and you're both kinda family.  And it's obviously a pretty dysfunctional family.  But many are and it is what it is.

You're both here.  You're doing something together.  Every day.  Try to have at least a little respect for that, and the fact that - there is at least that one thing you have in common.

when you wander in and sit down at the internet table, it's this one.

you have to try to get along.

Luvv, I'm gonna apologize. I made a joke and it just went all downhill from there.

well thanks.  and it's actually okay to make jokes and be yourself.  but the escalation is what becomes the problem really.  The point at which - Mochi reads into your post, escalates it, then you read into mochi's post and escalate it and it becomes about that.

If we can sort of get you guys to just accept those first posts without injecting extra baggage into it and move along, that's kind of what I'm after I guess.

turns out the show was an extremely elaborate troll, they've ended their relationship as of episode 11

edit: I deeply regret getting emotionally invested in this show

it, like deciding Steven Universe was a good show, is something I should've never done

They didn't end their relationship. This was more about Yuri assuming that Viktor wants to skate competitively again and is offering him that chance. From the way Yuri said it while smiling and not being overly dramatic about it, I think the show was at least trying to indicate that the rest of the conversation probably won't end in a soap opera break up.

hope so....if that's really Yuri's meaning.....I doubht victor would agree to a breakup considering he seems a hell of a lot more excited about the rings than Yuri does...(victor admits they're engagement rings, Yuri insists they're just a "gift to show Victor how grateful he is'')...only reason I'm freaking out is cause I've had my hopes shat upon by anime before when it comes to gay stuff and considering the Dramatical Murder anime made all the guys "buddies" anything is possible(in the game they were not only gay but screwing each other every 3 minuets, other than one kiss that the recipient of acted disgusted with, no gay implications exist at all in the anime for some reason)

frankly I'm hoping it was typical bad crunchyroll subbing and that what Yuri actually said means something more like "lets finish this" because then that could mean "lets get married even if I don't win" making him say "lets end this" makes it sound like he wants to break up

And? Y'all can avoid his threads if it bothers you so much, and Mochi going on about gay stuff is way better than your racist rants.

Back to the relevant topic, I can't wait for the new episode to drop.

I couldn't resist using that in the perfect situation.

What racist rants?  You need your eyes checked, madam?  Eh, this show is probably better than Hiatus.  The show's topics do not interest me though.

Goooood, gooooood.  Let the hate flow through you.

And it's about time you realized Steven Universe is one of the worst shows of all time.

I'm afraid to watch 11 and 12 because the fanbase flew into a panic over a line Yuri says at the end of ep 11 and they've now jumped to the conclusion that Yuri and Victor called off their wedding and are no longer a couple

I've seen clips from the series finale which however imply they are still engaged, but are simply postponing their wedding for reasons (I.e. to set up a sequel) namely them doing a team skate together and kissing.........edit: also the stinger shows that Yuri moved to Russia with victor...so they probably straight up CAN'T get married

edit:

someone was kind enough to tell me they did NOT break up so thank god(''-_-'');;

this show (or rather it's fanbase) almost killed me! >:(

Is the show legit good?  I can watch a show with gay characters so long as they done well and the show is interesting and compelling.  The lesbian characters in Supergirl have been done masterfully, by the way.

if you like figure skating and can stand some male nudity then yes

if you think figure skating is sissy garbage and projectile vomit at the sight of another man's shirtless chest then no

Umm I religiously watch both Olympics, including figure skating.  Men is a different thing to make a show about than the usual women or couples, so it could be something interesting, worth checking out.  Not like I haven't seen plenty of naked dudes in all decalogues of porn I've watched over the years, lul.

Yeah, Yuri's demeanor during that conversation was why I trusted how the showrunners would handle it. That trust was hard to give though because like you I've been burned multiple times(xxxHolic's bullshit ending), but I wanted to have faith in Yuri on Ice not screwing fans over.

As for the ending, the last episode thankfully wasn't as rushed as episode 11 but still felt over too quickly. One fun thing about watching such a viral show is what other viewers caught. Like I hadn't realized Yuri's and Victor's beds were pushed together as a subtle hint that they were banging each other until multiple people pointed it out in screencaptures. Yes, more obvious cues would have been nice, but I think the story made up for that. That twist in the comedic dance off credits makes me want to do a rewatch soon just to see it after knowing what was revealed.

funny story, Free! used a similar hints......then Kyo-Ani said they were all just platonic friends

where Yuri on ice differs is that it's show runners flatly state "yes Yuuri and Victor are gay" when asked by fans

Much to my surprise, this show managed to take over my personal AOTY title away from Amanchu!

I love everything about the show. The music, the animation, the characters, even the characters I initially disliked (Christophe and JJ) ended up more likeable or understandable at least. It's very refreshing to have a show with a canon gay couple that doesn't dance around the subject and gives us silly fanservice. It felt very honest. I loved Sayo Yamamoto's Lupin III spinoff and I've heard great things about Michiko to Hatchin, so I had a lot of faith in her. She and Kubo really exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to see what more is to come!
