Older people just expect things to work and don't want to bother with settings. I know people who won't use universal remotes because they think it's inconvinant to have to hit tv to do volume and cable to change channels. Instead they'd rather have 2 or 3 remotes sitting on the table.

For my whole life the vast majority of stuff I've printed out is just black ink so I don't run into this.
