I know a youtuber that talked about his terrible experience working at Gamestop. Gamestop found out where he works now, called his HR department, and got him fired. Slimy fucks. I will continue to buy games elsewhere.

I hate gamestop....Last time I went in, I sold them a broken PS3. The fan didn't work but it stayed on long enough for them to accept it.

That said.....Do you think a company that size is petty enough to see out and attack some random youtuber....Pretty sure some one who didn't like him did it.....Don't think "gamestop" would waste their time.

Few years back they sold this limited edition Xbox One controller and had a typical promo to trade in a used Xbox one controller for a discount on the new one. I stacked it with another discount and traded in a controller that was very busted but not noticeable until you tried playing something. They accepted it. Got the new controller for like $10 with all the discounts combined.

I couldn't find any proof of this

Well, he got HIMSELF fired. You don’t talk bad about your employer, ESPECIALLY when you’re in a public space, like YouTube. I don’t blame GameStop here. I would do it, too. Had he kept his grievances to his exit interview, he would have a job right now. His fault for making is laundry public. They just decided to wash it for him.

Gawd ... people still shop at gamestop?!

They're the only place in my area that sells the titles I'm looking for aside from Wal-Mart.

On this topic, I think it blows that the company has devolved. I worked for Gamestop at the age of 19. It was an okay place to work, but I only stayed for six months since I was in college at the time and needed to focus on my studies.

That was 9 years ago, though. A lot of things within the corporate side have likely changed, and it may also depend on each store how certain things are handled.

I agree with that in theory. If he's someone with a public platform and see used it to shit on old employers, he put himself in a bad spot.

But if what he says happened actually happened, it's still kind of a bitch move on the part of whoever did it.

Skip to the 7 minute mark. This dude rambles A LOT lol

This was more helpful. Without the video, I thought he was fired from Gamestop after the managers hunted down which store he was at. Gamestop going to his new job at another company to get him fired from there is a lot more fucked up.

I just buy the games I want directly from my XBOX. The last thing I bought from gamestop was probably Mass Effect Andromeda and that was because I expected greatness and wanted the case

What other alternatives do you have?

we got quite a few stores here in the area.

theres gamestar which sells a combination of new and old. this one is meh.

cd game exchange which mainly sells used stuff but they got some newer stuff too.

best buy has an ok inventory of new games. i'll usually go here for new games.

frys. mainly new games. they got almost everything.

retro game trader. big ass selection. mostly old games but lots of newer games, including imports. prices suck for the older stuff.

You're lucky because you live on the west coast.
You have choices and junk that aren't owned by GameStop.

I used to work at Fry's they are shitty. Also, be careful with buying shit from there in the software section (Games, DVDs, etc) that is "used". Digital codes get swiped all the time.
Best Buy is nice, but you can get better deals via Steam, PS Plus, or Xbox Live.

yeah i realize not everyone got good choices.

i am one of those people that rather own a physical copy of a game when i can so having a store is important for me. not to say i wont buy from any of the online services.

i havent had bad luck with frys but i dont shop there much for game as i do for computer hardware. and even that i dont buy often.

As I said, as someone who worked at Fry's, you have to be careful, they are shitty. Even with the hardware of computers (Components section, where I worked). Most of the RAM, processors, and boards are good if they are new, because they go directly to the cage. Anything used, though, is suspect as Hell. Usually doesn't get tested or anything. It's usually just thrown back in the box and re-sold. If not that, components on boards and stuff get messed up and touched all the time, because they don't get handled with gloves, or even care. Same holds true of RAM sticks.
You're better off going to Newegg or Amazon, because prices are better. Fry's even started price matching Amazon, because they know the shit is cheaper.

Good idea. Thanks for the tip.
