Isn't it kind of odd that hotel rooms all have bibles in them?

One of my brothers was traveling on business, and he wound up in some Twilght Zone-ish motel that had the Book of Mormon instead of the Bible.

The really odd thing was that he wasn't in Utah; it was somewhere on the  east coast.

Do you think it's just us, or like a universal thing?

Do hotels in Pakistan all come with Koran?

Do you get the rig veda in India?

What's up with that?

One small town I lived in Gideon's passed out small New Testament Bibles.  It wasn't a religious school & you weren't required to take one, but I still have 3 of them from different class years.

I think it'd be funny to replace the bible with a copy of The Satanic Verses.

In terms of sheer readability, I'd rather have the Bible. Rushdie makes me tired

yeah. it is. they want travelers to read the word and have it in their mind for some reason. there's an actual reason but I can't remember it atm.

From what I've heard, hotels are a very common place to commit suicide, so hotels keep the bible in all their rooms in hopes that people at the ends of their rope will read it and be inspired to keep on living.

the hotels themselves don't put them in there it's the Gideons. it says right on it "this Bible was placed here by a Gideon"
