I've already done bunch of research. I have an interest in the supernatural. it's enough to keep you up at night

I scare easily so I'm not even gonna torture myself like this xD

This is one of the few things that would motivate me to find a domestic partner .... if the monsters come, I'll sleep the furthest from the entry way so when they show up I could possible have a chance to get away while they eat the other person.

Thats what creeps me out. Why would there be similar stories from such diverse backgrounds .... unless ... they're real

Lol.

Without having a whole lot about West African deities and supernatural folklore, it's worth noting that both places were populated by people from there via the slave trade starting in the 16th Century.  As far as creatures with feet or appendages that can swivel, I can find at least one that hails from the tropics of the Americas, which could be a source of that part of the myth.  At any rate, it's not unreasonable to consider the possibility that the legends of the Curupira travelled from Brazil to the Caribbean because of that shared ancestral connection.

kiyohime~that really pissed off chick that was scorned by a potential suitor.

This is sending me down a spiral I'm not sure I wanna go down. I've been looking at Japanese lore because those don't really scare me. xD

“Botan Dōrō tells about a young man named Ogiwara Shinnojō, who is wandering around at night and who meets a young woman named O-Tsuyu. She carries a red peony lantern and Shinnojō immediately falls in love with her. Every evening now they meet each other for love and to sleep together. The overly curious neighbour sneaks secretly to the bedroom of the couple to observe them. When the light of the bedroom falls onto the couple the neighbour nearly dies in shock, when he recognizes that the sleeping Shinnojō shares his bed with a moving skeleton.

Something about demons with backward body parts really messes with me. I remember watching some crazy Japanese movie at a sleep over when I was younger. It was in a hospital and I just remember this thing ramming its upside down human face into a wall or a door or something and making this noise .... I stayed awake all night.

I hear ya, there.  I'm not sure where the tradition of spirits with disjointed limbs and appendages comes from, but at least part of the menace comes from the idea of the body not being controlled by its own soul.  Possession stories often use the disjointed appendage as visual manifestation of demonic possession, so it's only natural to assume that the source of this particular type of folklore is from early attempts to explain neurological disorders and their relationship to motor disorders in humans.

The logical portion of my brain accepts and appreciates this. The other part of my brain still gets scared poopless. Im literally fighting myself because I love mythology and folklore. Like I could go dive down this dark internet trail and look up all types of demon folklore and stories .... and then be up at 4am shining my cell phone light into the darkness thinking ..... what is that moving over there? Is that clothes basket with a jacket draped over it in the hall ..... NO ITS A DEMON!

Both.  And you're right, except I'm 6'4" and not gonna look all the way down to see if her feet point the right way.

So you just assume she/ it would just appear close enough that you wouldn't have to see it approach .... and just be like ... Im here, let's fuck?

Yeah, pretty much.  I'm not very observant to begin with so it would take a woman coming up to me and saying "Hey, let's fuck" for me to pay much attention.
