that's not really one of my triggers so I've never done that. I spend a lot of time just counting everything

Good. That shit is awful. Imagine your hands always bleeding and always feeling like they're on fire. And then imagine having to wear lotion/gloves 24/7 for several weeks while that shit heals.

yeah I know. I've seen it at a support group thing. my triggers aren't any less extreme they just manifest in other ways

I am pursuing disability for bipolar currently. Have a past history of OCD but I beat it. Worst OCD thoughts: a) thought parents were drugging the food so I had to eat out of cans and bags for  years.  Dispelled the thought and... b) thought I had to take LSD or get sent to hell after I died. That thought lasted for 2 years then dispelled.

OCD doesn't scare me, the bipolar monster is even worse... or yeah and I thought I had rabies, that thought ruined a whole summer vacation.

I think weird shit like that all the time.they literally stop me from leaving my house. but I still don't see it has "bad"... cuz I have an idea that nothing is really "good or "bad". it's all just chaos I hope you get on disability man. have you been denied before? it tooks me 3 times to get on it I think they just deny the first time regardless

Did you get an attorney and go to a hearing the 2nd time? I was denied the first attempt so now I filed for a hearing.

You tried the ocd medications I take it?

Only thing that ever worked for my ocd was quitting smoking and all other substances. I have a theory nicotine and smoke in the lungs just makes the anxiety worse. Then I had to retrain my brain to look forward instead of getting caught up in the thought.
Those were some of the most uncomfortable years of my life dude. I'd rather be dead then go back to that shit.

I didn't have a lawyer I had a case worker and psychiatrists and they tried to give me medz but I refuse to take them cuz I think they're poison. I don't really know any other way of being to compare it too so that's why I say I'm used to it

I completely understand your position.  Don't give up , you could try for better (though I am not saying you should)

it will not allow me to disregard facts in favor of anyone's feeling or opinion including my own. like I can't call a truck a car and I can't call a spider an insect because I am aware of what things are and what they aren't doing such makes you sound like an ignorant fool

in that other thread tho you were saying they aren't bugs. when bug is pretty much informal slang. some ppl consider all arthropods bugs. like some ppl consider shrimp crabs and lobster bugs. others say all arthropods besides crustaceans are bugs. then some ppl say just tiny arthropods are bugs. still others say only true insects are bugs.

if your OCD doesn't account for slang and the science of how humans use and define words, your OCD is weaksauce

I think using slang words is what's weaksause. just call things what they are

slang words kinda like new non-established words. sometimes they survive and become proper words. even if they retain elements of ambiguity. for example, you're the mini ghost. but what are you? the minimum ghost? or the miniature ghost?

now this is more something I can use and think about. when you call my disorder "weaksause" it just puts me on the defense and makes me hate slang words even more

I was just playing around with that weaksauce part. I didn't really mean it.

I always thought of it as miniature ghost like a little ghost inside me. but know I got another thought cycle about it

I thought so too. Maybe when it comes to words and your OCD, you can try and remember that a word isn't independent of the author/speaker, and authors use words like tools. And that the speaker has one meaning in mind when using the word. It can be the wrong word but if you are aware of the author you know what they mean.

Like... when i worked in the chinese restaurant, my boss thought when americans said "crispy" they meant "chewy" so when customers said they wanted their chicken extra crispy, he would pick out the pieces with more gristle bc he thought thats what they wanted. It took awhile to get him to break the habit, but in the meantime, when I heard him say "crispy" I knew he meant "chewy" even tho it was technically wrong.

Wrong tool for the job, but it got the job done since I knew what he meant. Kinda like using a screwdriver to hammer in a nail. It's not the right tool, but under certain circumstances it can get the job done.

Maybe that can help :) or maybe i just made it worse :(

There is a difference of understanding facts

and just plain nitpicking on labels that the left pushes on others as an oppressive means of elitism. Giving them the facade that they know what they are talking about because they follow a certain academic standard with it's roots in colonialism.

But I don't know I fuck up those labels all the time.

yeah I know what you mean the left can be oppressive too. I once got mad about it and went all right wing but that isn't really me either.

Oppressive? I'm sorry, which side recently courted white supremacists and decided that we needed concentration camps for little kids? Get the fuck outta here with that both sides bullshit. Especially when the right votes for a proven con man like Donald Trump with monsters in his administration like Jeff Sessions and Mike Pence.

~sigh~ I was in no way defending the right wings. you're preaching to the choir. but I'll still call the left out on it's bullshit
