i want to do this. it's a tree pod that you're put in, and planted.

i saw that ashes can get put into crystal orbs. and that looked really amazing.

anytime the city has to do road work, a body(ies) is always discovered.

in the film The Loved One, they empty the cemetery for the valuable real estate by sending the bodies into space via rocketship

Historically, graves were leased for a period of time, and when the family couldn't pay, the bodies were disinterred and stored in a chapel or another mass grave.  It's not common in this day and age, but I would imagine the same concept applies if that were to happen now.
