wife thought she was part cherokee. did the dna test and found out she was right (like 7% or something) but she's mostly iberian peninsula and british isles. she's also a descendent of mary surratt, who helped conspire to assassinate president lincoln. and going back even farther, she's from a line of nobles named shelton in norfolk, england. that line produced anne boelyn, the second wife of king henry viii.

i have no desire to track all that stuff down about my own ancestry. i'm irish, french, and scandinavian, and that's good enough for me.

yeah. somewhere along the line, back in the 20's i guess? a jewish socialite had the hots for her black chauffeur

and apparently loved each other, but she got pregnant, have no idea what happened to him.

and the baby was taken from her at birth, and sent away? i have no idea.

i'll have to get with my 2nd cousin to get this whole story right.

49% Eastern European, 21% Great Britain (not Ireland/Scotland), 16% Western Europe, 5% Scandinavian (that was a surprise).  Ukraininan, Polish, German I knew about.

Also a surprise was 1% Irish/Scot (under "Low Confidence Regions"), when I'm directly decended from someone from Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland.  So my Mom is taking the test, since it's her Great Grandfather.  Her father's Mother is where a lot of questions lie.  Were they Irish, as I was initially told.  Or were they Brits, or French or from the Isle of Man, as some other family researchers claim?  The French story is interesting, as it leads to Versailles where the Palace is - but I think it was someone's wishful thinking.

It's kinda fun to try to figure out, but it can get very frustrating when you hit walls on every branch of your tree.

that's where my cousin is at. she keeps hitting walls, and then more 'what the...' and having to do more research.

she has all but begged me to do mine.

i'm thinking about it.

i'm very curious about the native american, as that would be my grandmother. who was left on the door step of 2 women in n.j. (a very interesting story)
