Nice, benelli makes some quality stuff. Is it the semi auto one?

I'm a big fan of the Remington 870s. Especially now that they have the Remington 870 DM.

Yes I'm not sure how many shells it holds. I've never actually even fired it or loaded it. Just keeping it around for a rainy day.

It stops me; I've put my family through enough. If I don't die of natural causes, I want to leave them a tidy corpse.

fuck leaving a tidy corpse. life is not a clean and tidy place, nor should death.

If its strictly a hunting rifle I would reccomend a 30-06 for big game hunting like that.

some states only allow shotguns, handguns, and/or muzzle loaders for deer hunting.

Really? I haven't heard of any states not allowing rifles at all. I've heard of restrictions for certain seasons though. But if thats the case!

12 guage shotgun with either 00 Buck or Slug rounds

.357 magnum or .44 magnum for pistol

Muzzleloaders don't really have a small caliber if memory serve so whichever should do the trick.

Recent events in my neighborhood in philly have forced my hand.

I honestly didn't want a gun.

I'm no risk to myself with one but the concept of a gun used for anything besides a video game or hunting game irl isn't something I'm particularly fond of.

Me and a friend had a gun waved at us recently merely walking home.

So home defense is first, I want to pick up a glock next.

illinois has recently (late 90's i believe) opened up the list of allowed firearms to include center-fire revolvers or single-shot handguns, but when i was a kid, it was only shotgun or muzzle loader. if shotgun hunting, you had to use a plug to restrict a load to 3 slugs. i used my semi-auto 12ga ithaca deerslayer, and i was as good with it at <75yd as i was with any rifle. i'm pretty sure i landed fatal shots more often than i missed over the years. never got my monster buck though :(

Meh, gunshot wounds are really messy. I've mopped up the floor after enough of them to know that that's not something I want to leave behind.  Besides, I need as intact a corpse as possible to have the kids do what I want to have done with it.

how have you mopped up a floor after??

Well living in Illinois explains a lot. California is more restrictive based on season, caliber, and matetial.

I can't hunt with lead ammo anymore, and there are restrictions like, you cant hog hunt with a .223. Other than thst we have firearm seasons and bow season.

When I worked in the ER. It was a small hospital, and we didn't have housekeeping at night. If I wanted the blood off the floor, I had to clean it up myself. (The stretchers I would have had to clean anyway - that's a nursing function.)

Oh I was a janitor in an ER so I did stuff like that.

A Sig Sauer P238 (.380) and a Canik Stingray-C (9mm), but no rifles or shotguns. I also owned a Taurus TCP 738, but it was such a piece of shit that I sold it.

That's all.

See here is why I disagree. Mental health is a disease  like cancer or diabetes. Those people are allowed to own a fire arm. Its my constitutional right to own a fire arm. No one can take that away from me. Euthanasia is legal in other countries. In essence you are saying someone else gets to decide someone's fate. Time to wake up America. Most people with mental health are not homicidal anyways.

He wasn't talking about legality. Nabloom says he doesn't own a gun because he's afraid that he'll off himself, and AstroCreep said, yeah if you're suicidal, that's probably a good idea to not own a gun. By, like, you know, one's own decision.

i was leaning against a tree for balance (had to be still for awhile while the deer wandered in). when i finally took the shot, a lot of the noise bounced off the tree and caught me full in the right ear. i was deaf for a day or two on that side after one shot.

I didn't say they shouldn't be allowed to have them, just that if they are having problems with suicidal thoughts they probably shouldn't have them laying around.  It's just a bad idea to a means for instant death right there.

I have had that particular problem, and more recently I had problems with seizures, and I don't have any idea what I'm doing right after a grand mal seizure, so I gave my gun to my roommate to lock up in his gun safe until I got my seizures back under control.
