This Keto diet ain't bad

Dinner...  I should be getting fat but I'm only eating less than 20 carbs a day.  So much fat and meat though....  So much bacon. I added fresh habanero, garlic and chipotle mayo (eggless).

Anyways...  Carry on.

the keto stripes don't work that great. When your body gets used to being on keto it changes the levels of measurable ketones... its not that reliable. just focus on how many grams of crabs you are taking and how you feel.

Yeah it was more of a novelty starting out and my girl and I were just seeing who was most diabetic...  But I read that too.  I feel great, I don't miss carbs much,  I eat pickles and radish chips to satisfy my potato addiction and I made ice cream with heavy whipping cream that turned out awesome.  As well as the almond butter fat bombs for the sweet tooth

Its really easy when you think about it. Sauces and shit have so many carbs so you have to improvise with alternatives...

The app "total keto diet" has great recipes and ideas. Also the subreddit forum for keto has a lot of people that get creative.  It was expensive to start...  But now its a breeze.

is that good for people who work out a lot? i don't think i can completely cut out carbs because of how much i have to go to the gym

Yes. Your body uses fat and ketones as the energy source.  Plus you can still stack up on protein.

yeah and monitor your body for any negative changes. the body doesn't really like to be under 50grams of carbs for extended periods of times.. this could be years or months. when I did it i got insomnia and anxiety after about a year. maybe I had too much protein.. but you have to be careful.

I read that too.  I may fast this weekend and then go back up to 40 carbs...  To avoid anything like that. I think I'd only add in some low carb pita breads

how expensive was it to start? is it like $75 a week or something in groceries for one person to do it?

Mmmm...  It was like 150...  And about 100 a week.  A ton of deli meats and grassfed meats. But no processed shit so your body will thank you. Really depends on what you want tho...  Cheese and meats.

ok that's not terrible. if you're talking non processed i assume you're going by whole foods prices. deli meat has a ton of salt in it though doesn't it? i guess the whole foods/trader joes/ whatever kind doesn't

Salt isn't the concern really.  I mean obviously everything in moderation...  I go with the deli meats with no sugars.

then yeah i'd have to go to a whole foods or something for that, which is fine. hmm i'll have to research it further. i've been looking to cut my body fat down from 14% to 12% so that might do it

This would def do it..  Its scary at first because you're really going against your better judgment with how much fat you are intaking but your body has nothing else to burn be but fat for energy.

I talked toy doctor first too because of the bacon and salts and she said I'm good..  I'm 34 so she didn't feel it was a concern. No soda and pretty much candy and sugar.

i've thought about it but just can't. i need fruit, all the fruit... and i don't think i can ever give up tortilla.

you going to do this for permanent or for a select period of time?

You can still have tortillas on Keto. There are a few options available, actually. I make my own with coconut flour, and you can also buy some at the grocery store that are low carb. Coconut tortillas taste a lot sweeter than flour or corn tortillas, but don't forget you can always just brush some melted butter and/or put a little seasoning on them.

Period of time.  I want to get down on weight for summer and this is working like a dream. I'm thinking I may just do it once or twice a year to get my body back in check.  I've been having a lot of back pain too and my doctors agreed that strengthing my lumbar and losing a couple pounds would help tremendously.

As for cutting out tortilla,  there are other options and fruit is just moderation.  I had a cup of raspberries this morning...  6 carbs.

but thats just it. homemade fried corn tortillas and tortilla chips are a staple in my life that i just absolutely refuse to change.

flour tortillas are pretty decent too for certain things, i'd have a much easier time not eating those tho.

isn't it that just berries are okay on a keto diet?

It may not be corn but I'm sure you can work with stuff like flax seed, almond flour, and coconut flour to make something close. Look around for recipes online; I'm sure someone has come up with something similar.

As for the berries, you are allowed certain berries in very small quantities. You can easily spend your entire daily carb allowance on a few berries, though.
