Until SOTB/Programming Insider posts their "Saturday Final Nationals", this is probably the best I can do:

12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 0.44 (84.62%)

1:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 0.35 (79.55%)

1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 0.30 (85.71%)

Meh... who cares? The Arctic Circle will be completely ice-free by the end of the year. We're gonna have bigger problems to deal with than a failing cartoon block.

Well, I mean... that is a bigger deal, but it's completely irrelevant to this topic. Of course people would be focusing on the "failing cartoon block". Lmao.

:P

Maybe you could get more people to watch it you made them accept that we've basically fucked ourselves over when it comes to this whole "civilized society" thing.

We fucked ourselves the moment we decided the sin of bearing children was a good thing.

Humanity was a mistake. The Big Bang is the single greatest tragedy to ever be. The universe must be destroyed.

To be fair,  a few weeks ago I did say Toonami should be canceled after they picked up Super.

I mean, I just haven't heard anything good about it. And the highlights which are supposedly the fights... are poorly animated.

I always liked DBZ but I really have zero interest in watching this blatant cash grab.

I'm not expecting anything better out of the new Gundam series either.

Oh and is HxH actually getting edged out by Naruto? Hah.

Well, this thread sure got pessimistic in a hurry. Guess that's what happens in a world where Trump's about to be president.

Eh... I'm sorry if that stuck in anyone's craw. I just felt like injecting some cynicism in here as a coping mechanism.

Just because I think everything is fucked doesn't mean I won't try to make the world a better place. We don't know how much time we have left, and I'd like for it to stay that way.

Which has only happened once.

And if it continues to be a thing, that'd be a shame, because Naruto at this point turns full retard.

Almost everything did much worse than I had expected and yet somehow I'm not surprised, nor am I worried. I think that these ratings are just the signs of an awkward transitional period, given a few weeks I'm sure things will fall back into their regular groove. Even though this is kinda the norm now.

Fairy Tail would do better than HxH and wouldn't lose to the 500th episode of Naruto.

Wrecked.

Not wrecked. Because first off "ratings" or popularity have no indication of the quality of the series.

And either way, it remains to be seen if it would actually do that, so you can't use your assumption as an argument. I mean, c'mon.... that's argument 101.

Wrecked.

Are you talking about the OwlChemist post at the top of the page 31?

The wording of the post appears to be speculation. I don't know what they were basing it on, but

According to the site he said he was waiting for results on, HxH got 679,000 viewers..... and Naruto got 675,000.

http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/saturday-final-nationals-lions-seahawks-nbc-dips-9-year-viewership-low-saturday-night-nfl-wild-card/

So it literally did not lose out to Naruto. :|

It did in Adults 18-49:

11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 835,000 (88.81%) 0.651

12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 641,000 (76.77%) 0.515

12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 563,000 (87.83%) 0.439

1:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 453,000 (80.46%) 0.353

1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 389,000 (85.87%) 0.303

2:00 AM Naruto: Shippuden 393,000 (101.03%) 0.306

2:30 AM One Piece 328,000 (83.46%) 0.255 (?)

3:00 AM One-Punch Man (encore) 349,000 (106.40%) 0.272

ADULTS 18-49 AVERAGE - 493,875

Dragon Ball Super started out as good as Attack on Titan's best night, and that's a technical encore of a premiere from only 3.5 hours before! True, retention wasn't as good as that night, and most of these numbers are actually low from there by 2016 standards. The real losers are toward the end of the night: Gundam Unicorn was low for that timeslot's standards, and Hunter × Hunter just dropped below 400K for the first time EVER for a premiere episode. And of course Punchy jumped markedly as usual!

Finally....

CURRENT SHOW AVERAGES

Total Viewers

Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - 1,063,000 (1 episode)

Dragon Ball Super (11:30 PM) - 1,369,000 (1 episode)

Dragon Ball Z Kai: Final Chapters - 1,124,000 (1 episode)

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - 992,364 (11 episodes)

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn - 747,000 (1 episode)

Hunter × Hunter - 895,121 (33 episodes)

Naruto: Shippuden - 886,274 (140 episodes)

One Piece - 799,982 (167 episodes)

One Punch Man Rerun - 635,444 (9 episodes)

Adults 18-49

Dragon Ball Super (8 PM, Estimate) - 512,000 (1 episode)

Dragon Ball Super (11:30 PM) - 835,000 (1 episode)

Dragon Ball Z Kai: Final Chapters - 641,000 (1 episode)

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - 602,455 (11 episodes)

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn - 453,000 (1 episode)

Hunter × Hunter - 527,333 (33 episodes)

Naruto: Shippuden - 489,648 (123 episodes)

One Piece - 434,837 (123 episodes)

One Punch Man Rerun - 635,444 (9 episodes)

Adults 18-34 (Estimated)

Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - 306,000 (1 episode)

Dragon Ball Z Kai: Final Chapters - 462,000 (1 episode)

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - 401,636 (11 episodes)

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn - 319,000 (1 episode)

Unicorn sticks out like a sore thumb right now but that is likely to change if it gets better! That's probably the worst start for a new series at 1 AM in quite a while though. I believe Casshern might have had a worse debut? Such a shame because it's an amazing series and deserves to do well! It DOES have 21 weeks to improve, though!

One final note for the week: since PI is now providing ratings accurate to the thousandth digit, I can now calculate that 1.000 in Adults 18-49 is about 1282K!

The first episode of DBZ Kai Final Chapters did the worst a Kai premiere has since about January 2015...

1am-3am are all below recent performances for those slots on Toonami as well.

JoJos improved rentention from DBZ, which is great to see but hopefully it can do even better as part 2 ramps up.

I think the dated art style is really going to hurt its chances of doing well.

I think that's also a big problem JoJo has.

The funny thing is I prefer how those two shows look in comparison to something like Re:Zero or SAO. No surprise since I'm on Right Stuf and contemplating on clicking the buy button for this Wicked City remaster.

Hmm interesting, I prefer the modern pretty anime look. JoJo looks modern just with a different unique style.

This new Gundam looks like it's straight from the 80's.

This has been a terrible week for me.  I got food poisoning on Monday and had to delay coming home from a visit to Philadelphia one day longer than I would have liked.  The ratings just kinda put the cherry on the shit cake for the week.  I'm surprised how much Buu lost from Super; I didn't really take DBZ fans or the casuals from caring too much about continuity.  Hopefully the night can be attributed to a down night overall.

All cable originals in the Top 8 this week, and all shows and major demos except 8 PM Super either improved or held steady!

Now just keep it up, new Toonami lineup! More data to come!

I'm not incredibly excited by that drop from DBZ Kai to JoJo, but I'll refrain from other observations until the rest come in.

Yeah, I gotta admit that is a pretty scary drop, but we don't know how well Super did at 11:30 yet!

EDIT: Well, now we do, thanks to Screener/TVByTheNumbers, and KFC lost almost NOTHING from Super in total viewers or Adults 18-49!

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/daily-ratings/saturday-cable-ratings-jan-14-2017/

11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 1,236,000 (86.19%)

12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 1,210,000 (97.90%)

12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 915,000 (75.62%)

1:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 819,000 (89.51%)

1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 685,000 (83.64%)

2:00 AM Naruto: Shippuden 654,000 (95.47%)

2:30 AM One Piece 584,000 (89.30%)

If you click the link or do the math, you'll find that Family Guy at 11 PM won all cable in 18-49, but didn't even crack 1.5M!

Samurai Jack's return apparently bombed, as it didn't even make the Top 100, but its follow-up Rick & Morty episodes both did.
