Is it safe to say that ratings are now completely irrelevant to how well Toonami does? The fact that they probably cant air any other FOX shows on Saturday, Family Guy isn't the powerhouse that is used to be, and that Rick and Morty reruns in primetime arent doing great means that they have nothing else to fill Saturday with that isn't anime. At least a new show like Black Clover has a chance of bringing some new casual viewers in. Guessing it was a deal they couldn't pass up too since they just shoved it in after DBZ on such short notice.

They can, but it's likely that the contract they have states they can only show Bob's/AD/FG/Cleveland a limited amount of times per week, so if they wanted to show more FOX on Saturday, they would have to show less on some other day in exchange. It does look like they are doing just that and putting a Cleveland episode on Saturday at 8, plus moving a FG episode up to 8:30. This eliminates the Super hour and sandwiches Rick and Morty between Family Guy. Very interesting move.

OwlChemist81
Man, it took forever, but on 12/2/17, we shall finally have PRIME TIME TOONAMI! [just at 10:30] Wonder how this affects holiday marathons? I REALLY hope they don't decide to marathon Dragon Ball Super yet. Next year that would be OK if it's one and done, but dammit, JoJo and Gundam need some love! We can of course have 9 episodes of Gundam IBO capped off with Bebop and GITS, and 11 episodes of JoJo if they go that route this Christmas/New Year's! OwlChemist81
No. It's actually been lower in total viewers both at 11:30 (7/22, 804K) and 11 PM (7/29, 801K). Believe it or not, Black Clover will be the first time something other than Dragon Ball franchise has aired at 11:30 regularly since Attack on Titan reruns bombed in that timeslot in early 2015, and also the first time anything other than Dragon Ball shows, Attack on Titan, or Samurai Jack has aired in that timeslot since One-Punch Man's marathon kicked off in that timeslot on 9/3/2016. But unfortunately, after that, the marathon tumbled. I would have thought there would be more of an uptick in that first episode due to Countdown's finale, but unfortunately, no. OwlChemist81
It does appear that way. The regular schedule averaged 563K/349K 18-49 in the month of November. Last Saturday's super-sized 10-piece bucket of DBZ KFC got 608K/370K. The only exception was the November 4th partial lineup from 11 PM-3 AM, which averaged 394K in 18-49. That same timeframe last week fell slightly short at 385K in 18-49, BUT it did beat it in total viewers (632K on 11/25 vs. 614K on 11/4). Ugh and look at Black Clover!! Only 690K! For a premiere! The online hate must've had an effect on it. Well, we have to see how Family Guy at 10:00 performed to get a sense Super's performance. Imagine if it actually BEAT it? It also was the number 4 show on the list so thats something. If you you want to blame a show here, its Kai, which dropped a large amount of viewers. But I see some positives here: Black Clover and the rest retained pretty good!
Blatch
I'm not sure how you get "Black Clover did really badly" out of this when DBZ Kai actually had the biggest loss of the night, at least from what we know so far. Even JoJo's retained better, though that might be because it had weaker lead-in. Edited December 5, 2017 by Blatch

PokeNirvash
Black Clover getting that low on premiere night is hilarious, in a way. I bet Demarco's punching himself in the nuts over this one. Ah well, at least Lupin didn't dip below 500k this time.

Ginguy
LOL Did they even advertise they got BC before this week? I don't watch [as] save for Toonami and I don't recall seeing much in the way of ads. Despite that, it still did fairly well in key demo.
