The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board

Now would be as good a time as any to go back to airing obscure stuff that deserves a wider audience. Say what you will about their quality, but the "unpredictables", as I like to call them, were never boring when revealed.

The problem with unpredictable shows is they can shine, do okay or shit the sheets. You can't tell what you get until the ink is dry, hence going for things which are known quantities, like MHA and, I suspect, Black Clover.

Black Clover would probably rate well, but I have no desire to see it on the block. I guess it's the most generic shonen to ever get this popular. shithead

Akame Ga Kill has proved before that being generic can equal a huge ratings hit

and if there is still any truth in that then Black Clover is sure to do extremely well on Toonami

Look, I get it. You never know what you're gonna get with those shows. But really, I don't care if what they get does good like Deadman or does shitty like GXP, I just want something that isn't predictable for once!

Yeah, I completely agree with this.  Toonami needs to shake it up a bit and get something other than the standard shonen fare.  Ratings be damned.

I think Toonami could stand to move in both directions. Get the people what they want in newer shows sans Dragon Ball, but carve out an hour or so in the back for those lesser-known anime. And I wouldn't mind seeing some past Broadcast Dubs on the block. Basically, whatever is more likely that people haven't seen, I think'd be good.

2016

Samurai Champloo

Dimension W

Hunter × Hunter (2011 series)

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans

One-Punch Man

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

2017

Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096

Samurai Jack (revival series)

Tokyo Ghoul

Lupin the Third Part IV

Tokyo Ghoul √A

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

Outlaw Star (uncut)

Two shows that can be considered "hits" in the last 2 years.  3 if you want to count Buu saga, but that's kind of floundered lately. That's not very good.

One thing you have to remember is that the majority of these shows are at least well liked by fans. And I guess they all did okay, but DeMarco could be lying to us.

JoJo's Part 3 is a small step down from the first two in terms of my personal enjoyment, but I think it's actually the highlight of Toonami for right now. HxH hasn't gelled with me for a while (I have to get serious about it before Chimera Ant starts up, at least), and I guess Lupin is okay, but it's not the kind of show I enjoy watching during Toonami. I'd rather see something else in its slot. -_'

I'll give Gundam IBO S2 a chance, even if I wasn't too keen on the first. It at least promises to be a very chaotic show with tons of meaningful drama and character deaths.
