Ginguy
Yes .... but...... 50 percent of TV viewers didn't cut their cords in the last year. I'm not saying the ratings haven't suffered, I'm simply saiyan that getting 1.5 mil might be a bridge too far. It might be closer to a mil in terms of ceiling. AS as a whole is losing viewers outside of Rick and Morty. They've used Family Guy as a crutch for years and even that isn't a sure thing anymore . That also sort of limits what Toonami can do. Yes, but while AS and Cartoon Network are losing viewers, the issue is Toonami is losing even more. So you can't just blame cord cutting or weak lead ins for losing almost half your viewers in a year.

Jman
Maybe you should try comparing it to other anime as opposed to everything, because of course Netflix is gonna have it beat every time. That's my point. Netflix can air their anime next to stuff like The Punisher to raise its profile in a way Toonami simply can't.
PokeNirvash
Yeah, but Toonami doesn't air live action. Hell, since season 5 of Jack finished, they barely air Western stuff anymore. So while you're right in that the Punisher being on Netflix with a bunch of anime has Toonami beat out in appeal, it's still an unfair comparison compared to using Kuromukuro as an example instead. OwlChemist81
So, last Saturday night we had a perfect night in trending, but would that translate to higher ratings? In fact, no "cable premiere" show in the SBD era (since 4/11/15) has posted a 0.25 or lower in 18-34--until today. Lupin finally has achieved that ignoble honor! While I really want Toonami to keep going with Lupin the 3rd and pick up the French Adventure (Part 5) when it's available (hell, maybe even boost it to a World Premiere this time), some measure of trepidation must be felt over Lupin the 3rd Part 4's low ratings. Gundam Unicorn bottomed out at a 0.27 18-34; hopefully this will be Lupin the 3rd's floor in Adult Swim's classic target demographic! Hopefully Gundam IBO can help out the situation with its return and give Hunter x Hunter and Lupin a boost (not to mention JoJo before it), but I guess we'll know in 2 weeks! Hopefully Gundam IBO can help out the situation with its return and give Hunter x Hunter and Lupin a boost (not to mention JoJo before it), but I guess we'll know in 2 weeks! Not too bad this week As for Lupin, I don't think they were expecting it to be great due to its original 2:00 AM timeslot. The staff just really loves the show just like they love Gundam. They may have gotten a really good deal on it as well just so it can get some TV exposure before its Disc release next year. I wouldn't count out Part 5 either! The block is having a hard time securing the rights to a lot of shows due to streaming competituion and Lupin may be one of the things that they can still get without too much of a problem! Shippuden probably did a little better than Lupin, which will make it the 25th time it has beaten the show before it (I know this because a buddy of mine on Reddit likes to keep track of this and celebrate it every week in their ratings thread! > )

CaptainStarwind
It's gotten to the point where I'm not even surprised to see numbers like this anymore. If it's any consolation, Toonami won't be cancelled. If these numbers really were that terrible Adult Swim would have acted by now. I wouldn't worry, for those of you that still do. MasqueradeOverture
Retention's quite good, but this Super situation is still aggressively retarded.

It’s all relative to how Family Guy does (which doesn’t rise high due to a weaker prime time ). We’ll see when PI comes out later tonight.

What happened to the 800K and 900K??? Upside: This is probably the steadiest retention rate I ever seen on this block in weeks!
brianycpht
It’s all relative to how Family Guy does (which doesn’t rise high due to a weaker prime time ). We’ll see when PI comes out later tonight. And sure enough Family Guy pulled in only 1.1 million viewers. Saturday is just weak overall and Toonami is paying the price. Ratings are an issue, but I’m more concerned about Demarcos Ask.fm statement that acquiring shows for the block is getting harder and harder. That’s what’s going to do Toonami in, a lack of content
PokeNirvash
Now would be as good a time as any to go back to airing obscure stuff that deserves a wider audience. Say what you will about their quality, but the "unpredictables", as I like to call them, were never boring when revealed.

Netflix doesn't give a damn about broadcast rights.
Daos
Damn, so only Super is going to be above 800k? That's hilariously bad. Remember the good ol days of like... a year ago... when One Piece was getting 800k? Lolz.
