Automating my job?

I just did some Googling on the latest robotics tech.  When automating my job is the employer's goal, nanotube technology shows a lot of promise for the physical labor involved.

AI tech on the other hand still has about sixty more years before it can complete the picture.  After that, a decent android would be totally indistinguishable from a live person on looks and performance.

They don't have to build a janitor robot that does everything you can do. They just have to automate all the mundane tasks that you do. Like if a place bought specialized roombas & trash emptying robots. At this place a janitor spends 1/2 his day emptying trash & cleaning floors. Now you can fire half the janitors, and so on as you buy more bots to automate more janitorial tasks. You'll never be replaced by an android janitor bot. Even if we could do that, it would probably always be cheaper to replace janitors w/a diverse fleet of simpler robots each one specialized for one task.

The one that empties the trash would have to carry a full cubic yard of trash every hour, even when that yard weighs 400 pounds.  That would be in places like theme parks, casinos, malls or anyplace where really huge crowds are the norm.  Office complexes and other places that have low trash volume might get along with just the robots shown in certain videos that have been recently posted here.  The type of trash could make a difference too.  When cans only have paper and some occasional fast food containers, it's different from when a much bigger can is full of mixed liquids and broken glass.  They each have to be handled differently.

this guy is just someone doing the same motions of Packard. they don't really believe or care about what they're typing. they're just posting it because IT IS Packard-ish. the real Packard really believed the shit. and I honestly think the real Packard is dead

It's fun watching simple people slowly come to the most horrific realization in their inconsequential lives.

i hope everyone's boring jobs get automated. why do you need actual humans to work in a walmart or diagnose what's wrong with a car. get a robot to do it. lets do things robots can't do
