Yeah I have no idea what they were going for there. I think I wound up watching everything of both series that made it to Jetstream. MAR was a super-generic tournament shounen that wound up being entertaining largely thanks to its surprisingly-good dub. Hearing Spike Spencer as an ultra-cheerful plucky shounen protagonist was an amusing change of pace. Prince of Tennis frequently frustrated me because I actually played the sport, and at the end of the day it was largely fangirl bait, but I swear the coach of the team was a dead ringer for my high school coach, so that was amusing at least.

And yet the block keeps expanding, so clearly the powers that be feel that the ratings they're getting are still better than anything else they could put on at that hour. Or even more likely, they don't really have any expectations for that hour either way, because, y'know, it's 3 in the morning on a Saturday. Honestly I have no idea why any of you are sitting here in the year 2017 giving any sort of credence or inherent worth to hideously-inaccurate and increasingly-outdated Nielsen statistics, numbers that don't even pretend to properly take DVR and streaming viewers into account. Just watch the shit you want to watch and let the people who are actually paid to worry about that shit do so.

I petered out after season 3, when they started doing those flash-forwards. It was just becoming clearer and clearer that they had no idea where the hell the narrative was going. The early parts were good shit though.

Yeah, I don't really know when those threads devolved from talking about an episode after the fact to doing a play-by-play chatlog in the middle of it, but I don't see any real value in them anymore. I mean not every show is going to engender in-depth philosophical discussion and speculation, but hell, the old AD crowd managed to put down a lot of text about s-CRY-ed.

Action Discussion circa 2005-2008 or so. Back when anime was this weird awesome new thing I was immersing myself in. Reading and writing so many huge-ass posts, and premiere threads that used to have thoughtful discussions that'd last the entire week until the next one. Crazy alt names and zany icon themes and all sorts of nonsense. Most of all it was the people. There are too many from back then I haven't talked to in ages or have lost contact completely, and one or two that have already gone ahead.

The old consensus is (Your age)/2 + 7 as the lower boundary before it gets creepy. Adjustments for legality if you're young, obviously. Now if you're Zeni, it's always creepy.
