I'd be more concerned about whichever mysterious employee you emailed just outright lied to you before, because the delay had nothing to do with "waiting for scripts from Japan" or whatever the fuck you were saying. They don't get scripts from Japan. They literally pay people to translate and subtitle the episodes in-house so that they can post them on the same day (the scheduled release time was within an hour of the show airing). At that point, the ADR team takes that translation and figures out how to get the lines to match the lip flaps without changing anything too much. They're not sitting there for weeks on end, waiting for Bones to fax over a detailed script of the entire episode so that they can get started.

It might just be as simple as the current contract doesn't allow for it, and they're not able to sit down and hammer out an updated contract for that right now. Not everything is a conspiracy theory against you.

Can you link the article? Because I just went through Crunchyroll's archives and this is the only thing I found, which says absolutely nothing about putting the anime on hold. The last episode, which aired over two months ago in Japan, ends with the phrase "To be continued: 5th season!" It's on a normal seasonal break, not being postponed because of his medical issues. And they don't wait on Japan for scripts, why would they? The episodes are already fully translated and subtitled, and hit their website on the same day as the Japanese airing. They've had the scripts the entire time.

No it goddamn isn't. Nobuhiko Okamoto announced his surgery at the end of May and is recovering right now. The last episode of season four aired in Japan on April 4th, almost two months before then. It may affect season five in the future, but every single episode that currently exists was fully completed and released months ago in Japan. Also, why the fuck would the Japanese actor's medical leave have anything to do wit the English dub of the show? I am genuinely curious why you believe he has any effect on an overseas production that he doesn't even work on.

Do you just go looking for unlikely doomsday scenarios for fun or what? Patrick Setiz is a veteran actor and y'know, a capable goddamn adult. Unless this was an emergency surgery, he would have given ample notice to Funi and the other studios if he'd be unable to perform. And considering he was cracking jokes about the surgery both before and after it happened, it was a minor thing. Funi put out an announcement that episode 87 would be out this Sunday. That means the episode is either 100% ready to go or only needs the last bit of work done on it before it airs; the voice work is definitely already finished because the rest of the work could not happen unless they had the dubbed audio from everyone. We might still get a two week wait for 88, but a lot of the work is almost certainly out of the way for it. Sit down and stop blowing things out of proportion to give yourself an excuse to panic.

The lines may have been recorded pre-quarantine, but there's probably been more work involved for Funi helping with the publisher to make sure everything turn out well.
