  6. By avoiding the stuff my gut can't handle - raw onion or garlic, powdered onion or garlic, pretty much any fruit, sweet corn, sweet peas, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera... If you haven't done so already, look into a low fodmap diet. Essentially you avoid stuff that sets you off for awhile, then slowly add some of those things back in. If you've got the money, look into FoodMarble. I bought one when they hadn't even come out and it helped me find out what foods created a problem.
  7. Getting up might have saved his life. I was thinking that had he just stayed down, the medics might not have thought the situation was life threatening. But getting up and just dropping, they're gonna jump at that.

  9. Former Numismatist Former Philatelist Former Vinyl Audiophile I've unintentionally collected business cards (my own) and awards from former employers (anniversary pins & accomplishment awards). Lately trying to collect books written by my Aunts & Uncles.
  10. On the oddball side of westerns - Evil Roy Slade (John "Gomez Addams" Astin as a man in black gunslinger) Support Your Local Sheriff/Support Your Local Gunfighter (James "Maverick/Rockford Files" Garner) A Gunfight (Johnny Cash & Kirk Douglas) The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (Paul Newman in a historical fiction movie) and of course Once Upon a Time in the West (Charles Bronson as the good guy and Henry Fonda as the bad guy - Fonda's bad guy was voted the most evil person in some survey at the time) And of course the star-studded "The Magnificent Seven" (The Seven Samurai goes western). Yul Brynner reprises the gunslinger he portrays in "Return of the Seven" and in the original "Westworld" and in "Futureworld". Brynner also did "Adios, Sabata" and "Pancho Villa". Oh, and this
  11. We might need to either extend this to a weather/storms in general thread or create one for 2023. The Temp tomorrow is supposed to get into the 60s or maybe 70s tomorrow. This has happened once before, 1/26/1967, the temp got into the 60s and 29 hours later, there was 23" of snow on the ground and the winds were in the 40-55 mph range. Edit: Now the local ABC network is backing off the high by 10 F, saying it will be in the 50s. Every other station & weather app is saying in the 40s.
  12. You might like "My Name is Nobody", you might recognize the plot as being somewhat the same as a very popular later movie. Spaghetti western, but with more comedy. Another one with Terrence Hill is "Trinity is Still My Name".
  13. "I didn't come here lookin' for trouble...I just came here..." to say FTP!!!

  15. It's New Year again. Everywhere in the world it is celebrated - but not at the same time - not at this moment. Right now, there are parties in Asia. Soon, the turn of the year will also reach Europe and Denmark, and tonight it will continue westward, heading for America. The circle is closed. All over the world, people's lives are connected for better and for worse. It has rarely been more clear than at this time. On February 24, Ukraine was invaded. It is upsetting to witness the suffering of the Ukrainian people. Heroically they fight for their freedom, it makes a strong impression on us all. Many Ukrainians have come to Denmark after the outbreak of war, and the Danes have welcomed them. Many have opened their home, workplace, football club - and their hearts. When we help each other, we light a light in the dark. It's the least we can do. Many of the refugees are women and children. They are of course deeply worried about their family members left behind, but despite that, many have a strong desire to provide for themselves and to create as normal an everyday life as possible for the children. They all naturally hope to be able to return home as soon as possible. My first New Year's greeting tonight goes to the Ukrainians in Denmark and to the entire Ukrainian people. May this terrible war come to an end and may your proud and beautiful land flourish again. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark https://www.kongehuset.dk/nyheder/laes-h-m-dronningens-nytaarstale-2022
  16. Wish for a miracle today? Ukrainians have long been creating them themselves. To wish for real friends? We already know who they are. To want a true love? This year we felt it more than ever. To have faith and hope? Both have been in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a long time. Do you wish for the comfort of your home? He is where we and our loved ones are. To wish for the light? It is in all of us, even when there is no electricity. Want an adventure and travel? Now Ukrainians got them way too much. So today only one wish. And it will manifest not by a miracle, but by our work. The struggle. Helping one another. With humanity. Happy New Year! The year of our victory. Happy New Year! The year of our victory. - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
  17. In June 1915, the Russians were expelled from L'viv, and by October, all of Galicia was liberated from them. The press of that time very picturesquely described the retreat of the Russians, who were dragging the loot with them in carts. Furniture, bedding, dishes and... "night vases"! Here's a look at this postcard from 1915! A century has already passed, but nothing has changed in Russia! Except that the trophies have become a little different: toilets and used hair dryers, iPhones and dog houses.
  18. Upper 40s/low 50s today. Warmer tomorrow.
  19. I think I'm gonna hurl...
  20. BTW - On this day, 31 years ago, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics officially recognized Ukraine as an independent country. After Russia (12/2/91), Cuba, Yugoslavia, all the Baltic states, most the "stans", Belarus, Georgia, and Iran.
