Again it comes to transportation for a lot of people. Our DG was like two blocks from two different low income apartment complexes and a trailer park. It was much easier for them to walk to us than to Walmart which is about another half mile away.

It's pretty much the last thing. If you live in a town or city and Walmart is a reasonable distance from you.. it's worth it over your Dollar General/Family Dollar type store. But if you happen to live in a rural area or you don't have reliable transportation to make that big Walmart run then that's the only way to go. When I was working at DG my district open four stores in the time I was there and all of them were in small communities where it could take upwards of an hour to get to the closest Walmart. Obviously people who live in those areas go to Walmart for big shopping trips, but if you're on your way home from work and you need milk... DG is pretty much the only place to go in those areas now.

Walmart is cheaper because they specifically price it to be cheaper, even if it's only a cent. It's all so they can brag about having the lowest prices. I used to work at Dollar General and most of our prices were whole dollar amounts ($1, $2, $5, etc), Walmart will price the same item at $0.98 in hopes of luring you in and having you buy something make up for the small percentage they're losing by selling items at low margins.

When I was a kid I was watching some neighbors shoot off fireworks while sitting on the back of my mom's car. A roman candle misfired. It went up into the air but whatever it is in it that make it light up didn't work and it shot off in a small arc and came down over by where we were sitting. It landed on my leg and burned the fuck out of my lower leg by my ankle. I had just gotten over severe burns to one of my feet after accidentally walking through an burned leaf pile that still had burning embers (it burned my foot but really we're lucky it didn't set my grandma's yard on fire or some shit.) That was pretty much when I stopped liking fireworks.

Tonight's episode of Attack on Titan is the highest rated episode of the entire series and is still the highest rated episode on IMDb (last week's episode is #2.) It trended for a good portion of the day on Twitter when it was released. This is the first episode I watched concurrently with new releases and it's fucking amazing. I had to get into a K-Pop group to recover tbh. Season 4 isn't gonna be the same without WIT Studio.

You're typically arrested and detained when you're being charged with a crime. Sometimes you get out on bail or house arrest and sometimes you don't. It's why you get sentencing where people are released after the conviction for time served. I'm willing to bet based solely on that article that this boy is black and that's why he was detained at juvenile detention and at his home and probably why the charges were taken seriously. The girls were definitely white which also explains the slap on the wrist. We had a case here where a prominent white man in the community was charged and convicted of several counts of molesting young boys, all of which were from troubled homes (the guy worked as a youth counselor). He was a free man walking until his conviction. Before the trial there Facebook videos of him basically doing a goodwill support tour where he went to different businesses and just filmed people telling him how much they supported him and how the charges were all lies. He even tried to flee the country with his mom and was detained at DFW for it and was still able to walk around. EDIT: To add to that. We also had a dude rape his girlfriend's toddler get out on bail. The child's family had to petition the court to revoke the bail. They had DNA evidence on him the entire time and a judge let the man out on bail.

I highly fucking doubt someone went to jail for rape with no evidence. Arrested? Yes. Convicted? Get fucking real.
