I used coins to buy a lucky egg to evolve through a whole bunch of stuff before the event ended and I hit level 30 - my inventory was at max and now I have about 94 items passed full capacity. I was going to use the great balls I got to catch the random pokemon still around me, but then I realized that unless I dump 100 items, they might be the only balls I have for a while.

There was another articuno raid at the same gym and same time as my last venture. Predictably, one of the guys who was there last time was there again with a friend, and we turned that into a decent group of maybe 10 people. I think catching on that that other stranger is playing too and initiating conversation definitely breaks the ice for everyone else, because other people recognize you're a group now and are more comfortable coming over and joining. I didn't catch articuno, but a lugia raid just started a few blocks away so most of us walked over and met even more people at the gym on the corner of a dirty looking alley (picture this old black guy walking his dog by with the most confused look on his face). We didn't have enough to kill lugia in time, but while battling more people showed up and there ended up at least two groups because we were well past the 20 as people continued to show up either solo or in pairs. I caught him in round 2. I had to use coins to buy the special box with raid passes, and now I understand how Niantic bet on the one free pass a day working out just fine. I might not go out of my way to do raids for Pokemon I already have, but in the moment once you're in that group it's hard not to keep going.

When I got home from i saw there was an Articuno raid happening at the plaza the next block over. So i walked over and plopped myself down and created a room - I'd probably lose by myself, but who gives a shit amirite? Then a guy comes out from the sushi restaurant and says 'hey, I got four people on their way over - quit the battle and wait and you can join us.' Soon enough, a family the guy knows shows up - father, son, and daughter - each with their own game (and the father duel-wielding on the mother's tablet too). A couple other solo nerd guys were drawn to the crowd and we had ourselves a group of 8 that materialized out of nothing. We beat the articuno, but I was only awarded 6 balls and didn't catch it. But it was the most "pokemon go" experience I've ever had thus far, like what I imagine it was for people in July 2016.

How long is the double candy/.33 egg distance/store bundles etc?

I guess the "prize" is the woman who murdered her daughter, along with her daughter too. Probably followed by a "you killed my daughter, now watch as i kill your daughter"

What happened at the gofest?

I don't see anything in the deleted folder, it must have gotten eaten

but GunStarHero doesn't have her own personal board in the staff section like he does, so he wins out again

I met him once when my friends organized some event here (they were all into that competetive scene at the time, hence my lingering resentment towards tryhards). He's a bit of an awkward guy - a combination of the social aptitude and living with one's mother that leads one to become a pro video game player in the first place mixed with a weird sense of entitlement from being a "celebrity" within that community. Evidently he crashed at my friend's place for like a week and refused to pay for anything himself in a "Jesus Christ order your own damn french fries we're grown-ass men, and no I wasn't offering to cover you" sort of way.

I guess that's what I mean. It's one thing to switch it up for a match to end all matches, but it's another thing to play against people who exclusively play competitively and think "casual" is just four-player on final destination with no items.

for whatever it is worth I think the bald guy on the right is mew2king also for whatever it is worth I prefer casual party free-for-alls over highly competitive 1v1 no-items, no-hazard play

the first thought i had at the end of the premiere was 'wow, they didn't kill anybody' and then the next thing immediately on the screen was a recap of the opening scene where all the freys died

I can't remember a lot of things from grade school without prompting, yet I have a near photographic memory of Banjo-Kazooie and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time which, I might admit under oath, played a larger internal role in my life than my education during those years. So, it might not just be that I have an extra four years of college and three of law school on top of pre-k and k-12.

I've noticed that other people are a lot better at recalling specific grades and teachers from their education than I am, even if they are 20 years older than me. My working theory is that the more years of education you have, the less able you are to remember a lot of those specifics without some sort of prompt to trigger your memory. My other working theory is that I am just bad at remembering things.

I saw a shiny gyarados in a gym today I guess it's just as well that the box isn't worth it because I only have a quarter of the coinage

Wait the combined cost of all the items in the box is only 80 more coins than the box?

I went to the store because everything is closed today and I used the opportunity to take down my white whale. The gym was on lock by team red players who may or may not have been spoofers. It took me four battles but I finally knocked it out and popped in scizor. Felt good man. Then as I'm walking into the apt I pull out my phone with a message that scizor has returned. I collected one whole coin. That's when I realized they were probably desperate to be knocked out to reset the clock. They are just out of sight in the game so I can't tell for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if all six slots were already filled in the past ten minutes.

I kind of meant it as a sarcastic joke in the "we're using ancient software because it let's JMC Admin set up folder banners" sort of way

Problem: we appear to be using software that hasn't been actively developed in 7 years

maybe if there has to be limitations on accessing DF it should be a function of time spent on the site versus raw post count - some of us just wanna watch the show

It's definitely still there.

I did not realize DF was rank-limited. And/or I was told but didn't care enough to remember.
