i mean, to be fair, the first two cats are technically my gf's because she paid for them both from the shelter and they originally lived in her apartment. so right there, that halves my number of cats down to two. and after we moved into the house, she began talking about adopting a third adult cat now that there's all this extra space, and i surprised her with the two kittens just before her birthday (imagine someone getting home from work all tired and miserable, and then in a split second suddenly turning back into a child). so technically if I claim the kittens were a birthday gift to her, that would mean I actually have zero cats.

the breakdown now is one pair 6/7 years old and one pair 12 weeks old wilma (one of the older ones) did not like them at first even though she was from a shelter and should have been totally used to scared kittens, but i noticed last night she was totally trying to play with them by chasing them around the basement (even though they are still a little scared of her) peace is happening and peace will turn into friendship if I have any say in the matter
