While I could be a whiny brat and rub this in Moose's face like he keeps calling me out to do, let's be pragmatic. One Piece has been on the block for years. It has failed consistently to get ratings. It has failed to grow an audience. It has failed to be a thing in the USA. And after years of that, maybe it's time for a new approach.

Yes, blame the US for having better things to do than watch a children's cartoon show at 2:30am instead of sleeping, or partying, or...anything really.

No can accuse them of not trying. Because, Bah Gawd King, they tried. They tried really hard, and it didn't work.

They have tried with this show FOR YEARS. And it was never going to be a thing in the US. You can only bang your head against the wall so much before trying another approach.

Yes and no. They tried everything with One Piece and put simply, nothing worked. And if people liked Agame, they're gonna like Tokyo Ghoul.

If you mean like Bebop, my contention was always it was overplayed. Which is why I bought the box set.

Hate to nitpick, but The Simpsons has had an ongoing comic almost as long as the show. Specifically, Bongo Comics, an imprint Matt Groening founded to bring actual comedy focused comics back to the mainstream (it was founded in 1993 during the Dark Age of Comics. Groening had a point.). It actually has just as big an effect in comics as it does in animation. Simpsons is actually huge in Japan too.

It's like the Simpsons in Japan. It's a far cry from peak quality and popularity, but is so engrained to a core audience and just does enough to warrant staying around.

Family Guy has faced a lot of backlash over the years due to reduced quality. Unlike Simpsons (which has always maintained a nostalgic sweet spot and international appeal, particularly in Japan) and South Park (which has constantly reinvented itself over its 20 year run) it hasn't really changed and people appear to be tiring of it.
