Live action Akira has a producer - Leonardo DiCaprio, set to begin filming
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Actually wouldn’t be the first time Leo was attached to an anime adaptation that went nowhere. He actually turned down Episode VII in favor of signing on as Roy Fokker in a Robotech movie. Since those rights are a completely dumpster fire that will only be resolved when Harmony Gold loses the rights in 2021, the movie never got made. https://geektyrant.com/news/2013/7/24/leonardo-dicaprio-turns-down-star-wars-for-robotech Disclaimer - I like Leonardo DiCaprio as an actor and thought Revenant was a work of art. -
toonami New Toonami schedule announced; legit or April Fool's Joke?
Jman replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
They listed it on their front page as a trending show and it’s getting a metric ton of social media traffic. When it’s in the Top Viewed section next to freaking INFINITY WAR, something is up.- 54 replies

I’ll sit here and hope Stardust Crusaders hits Netflix next month. They have a bonafide hit and I would hate stupid Toonami contracts to stall the momentum.- 54 replies

It’s easy enough to blame the fact that Hulu and the other streaming services are far ahead of Toonami’s episode count, but I still have no explanation for how Season 1 of JoJo on Netflix is apparently trending higher than a lot of their live action originals. On Demand continues to encroach on Toonami’s shit.- 54 replies

Yeah except Outlaw Star might actually be successful.

Please. Wulin Warriors. I still remember...the puppets. And Outlaw Star? Seriously? I still keep worrying Hulu or Amazon Prime is going to make a live action version.

Fits with DeMarco’s stated “boutique” philosophy as opposed to Gridman or Goblin Slayer.- 40 replies

1. Being reminded of Outlaw Star just makes me think someone is ready to sell a script for a live action series to Hulu or Amazon. Don’t let Titans Starfire play Aisha is all I’m saying. 2. DeMarco seems to be fairly comfortable with the block now even if it sort of a broadcast arm of Crunchyroll. They seem to have a lot of plans for the future, even while acknowledging Netflix making...everything.

Magic Knight Rayearth 7-8. I’m telling you, Netflix is probably getting their usual suitcase of money to give to CLAMP for a remake.

Rewatching Jojo Part II on Netflix. I feel like more people have watched Jojo on Netflix the last month than during the entire Toonami run.

A 3D show from a low budget start up that got an immense amount of loyalty, fans, and improvements in the budget. Unfortunately, the original creator died a few years ago. He never got to see his characters present in a BlazBlue game. -

...ANYWAY, Toonami news asked people what shows they would want on Toonami on Crunchyroll as part of this new collaboration - WAY too many people suggested RWBY and gen:Lock.
