  1. I am expecting Bebop to return for better or for worse but perhaps not this soon. If all other avenues aren’t exhausted (or if PA bombs and scheduling tells DeMarco to knock it off with airing personal favorites no one will watch) it won’t air until the Netflix Bebop debuts. The second that debuts, DeMarco will air it in a prime time slot and go “this is the real Bebop!”
  2. It is a personal favorite for DeMarco. Hence years of it airing just because,
  3. I just find it telling the characters have to defend the school festival occurring in what feels like a fourth wall break. “The kids need the school festival!” Fans - Just do your version of The Phalanx Covenant! Principal - No, school festival.
  4. La Brava reminds me of Baby Doll from Batman the Animated Series. A little person (and Gary Coleman parody) with a clear case of arrested development. She’s an interesting concept. Unfortunately, I maintain Gentle isn’t as interesting because of his plan. A villain that live-streams his crimes? I was expecting Arcade, someone who kidnaps a few of 1-A students and has a giant death trap waiting for them. Also, is anyone that invested in seeing this school festival? I must point out that the shows characters have to essentially address the audience to demonstrate why we’re seeing this instead of more X-Men stories. “No, this school festival is important, even if you people would rather see our take on The Brood or Fatal Attractions.” If the story is popular, that’s probably not necessary.
  5. This is actually a fairly valid point, except the message at the end of the series is one that is fairly optimistic, if brutal in tone.
  6. Anime Expo (as well as SDCC and possibly NYCC) are now cancelled. 2020 con season is done.

    FF7 Remake

The head writer of infamous shitshow RWBY had a legendarily awful hot take on Tifa. Fuck Western creators trying to influence anime and Japanese video games. Fuck em all.
  8. It will forever be what defines SAO - Maybe it even killed that LA adaptation being bandied about.
  9. I continue to maintain Toonami just gets JoJo to keep it off Netflix. No other reason.
  10. The fact remains that Yuuki’s arc boils down to...
  11. I would argue that DeMarco’s stated goal for the block, as a bespoke, premium content answer to Netflix, FUNi and Hulu’s next day delivery of anime is exemplified by PA. I also believe it’s going to tank just as hard as last time, except the anger against it won’t really be there this time. Ooh, Toonami’s airing Paranoia Agent on a Saturday night. Forgiving time has lost all meaning until this crisis ends, the options available to viewers have broadened immensely. “Oh man, Paranoia Agent? Let me fire up Netflix and watch...hey, Bleach movies! Ooh, a new Ghost in the Shell!”
  12. One Piece is on hiatus. Shit has gotten real.
  13. That’s my point. It’s not Toonami/ASA or suck a lemon anymore.
  14. Unlike 2004, we have a lot of other choices. A LOT of other choices. Y’all see Beastars?
  15. Oh my God, DeMarco you complete hardheaded idiot. On one hand, I admire the sheer chutzpah of the man to air a show that bombed on Adult Swim Action to the point it signaled the beginning of that block’s downturn. “You will enjoy your anime equivalent of vegetables and you will like it!” You could not get anything else? On the other hand, Satoshi Kon is no longer with us, is he? It’s an unusual circumstance, but he’s a figure worth remembering.
  16. Fair enough. But whenever I think of SAO tackling AIDS, that clip will come to mind.
  17. They aired Unicorn, if they weren’t so restrictive about movies I would air Narrative.
  18. My Hero Academia Two Heroes.
  19. https://twitter.com/VivziePop/status/1249049862559023110 Several months later, Hazbin is still being pitched but it seems Helluva Boss exhausted all potential avenues so Vivzie wants to do it independently. Good luck...
  20. Fairy Dance always reminds me of that one clip from Walker Texas Ranger Conan O Brien made fun of.
  21. Well, ESPN stepped in and cancelled it. Guess the money for live events didn’t outweigh the PR disaster.
  22. Earlier in the week the entire dub was finished for the 85 series. Third time is the charm.
  23. I’ve heard rumors department heads are pushing back on AT&T’s attempts to restructure, so maybe DeMarco not wanting Crunchyroll stuff is an attempt to avoid CR taking his power and influence in the WarnerMedia sphere.
  24. The term problematic was already dying on the vine, the resulting shift to comfort entertainment will probably kill it altogether.
  25. This is incredibly short notice and there’s no telling what their budget is tied up in.
