  1. As if you’d actually see the sex outside of whatever non-canon doujin is floating around.
  2. UFC prelims were number 2, but without a lot of the public gathering places to watch the PPV (and social distancing making parties a no-go), it may not hit the ratings as hard.
  3. It’s funny, because the anime industry nearly imploded last economic downturn in the age of 4 episode per DVD volumes. The changing nature of distribution has made the industry a lot more resilient.
  4. Also this screen capture seems to perfectly reflect the casual audience reaction to PA. (If you have Netflix, you should watch Dolemite Is My Name).
  5. Kagura died. I believe Rin survived. Looks like the new lead gets to have the magic sword this time. They’re all girls apparently, just one was raised by Kagome’s brother in the present.
  6. One word - Also the implication is one of them is Sesshy’s kids. Rin?
  7. Linear television is down as a whole from what I’ve seen. It’s either stuff that has aired elsewhere, or in the case of PA, stuff people didn’t want to watch the first time.
  8. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2020-05-07/hbo-max-and-crunchyroll-team-to-bring-fans-more-anime-on-may-27th/.159331 Very random selection TBH. I guess the idea is to tease you into buying a CR subscription since VRV is likely going the way of the 8 track.
  9. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-05-07/japan-anime-internet-distribution-market-overtakes-home-video-market/.159304 This is supported by both overseas and domestic anime industry growth (fitting given every streaming service chomping at the bit for anime) but it represents a turning point away from the traditional “low population high volume” purchases of otaku in favor of everyone watching something.
  10. The joking title “Anime, the anime” gets used a lot but it fits AGK to a tee.
  11. I just wonder about the production end. Powerhouse Studios was boasting that it’s doing its work from home (hence why production is continuing fairly smoothly on their Masters of the Universe project) but I don’t know how many studios have that luxury.
  12. Well one got a crappy Japanese live action TV show and the other is getting a big budget Hollywood movie. You tell me who wins.
  13. They did something similar when they offered the Nozomi USA catalog for streaming. It’s a matter of bulking up their proprietary service, especially with so many simulcasts on delayed schedules.
  14. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-05-04/funimation-adds-nis-america-anime-to-catalog/.159248 This includes most notably, Cardcaptor Sakura. The internet immediately responded with this -
  15. Even Netflix isn’t fully immune. The new GITS has its dub listed as “pending” because it’s not safe to have the actors in ADR.
  16. There’s deals in place to make MAX and Now the same amount. Warner is betting big on this service, which will further complicate the streaming wars and anime’s place in them.
  17. I’d rather watch Man of Steel than Evolution any day of the week. Even if Henry Cavill is playing Goku for all intents and purposes.
  18. Is it as horny as the anime? Otherwise it’s not Kakegurui.
  19. It’s more that we haven’t had a show return after a break this long, in that prime a spot except for the usual suspects.
  20. One Punch Man S2.
  21. Harmony Gold. God I hate Harmony Gold.
  22. There have been at this point, multiple fourth wall breaks saying how important the festival is and defending it from naysayers. It’s a bit TOO on the nose.
  23. Dub is delayed indefinitely due to COVID. Japanese only.
