  1. It was a Stan Lee take on Tetsujin 28. Shame about the legal stuff.
  2. If you rewatch them all now, it really feels like the studio wanted to make a 52 episode X-Men series, since X-Men has way higher production values and a more coherent story. Wolverine IIRC is pretty much the Frank Miller Wolverine miniseries, which The Wolverine movie covered later anyway.
  3. In what little defense of Gemusetto I can muster, its showrunner wasn’t embezzling funds.
  4. He lampshades the first part, anyway. His appearance in the kinda follow up Future Avengers runs with the same basic idea, that he really wants to be a big deal in Japan. (For what it’s worth, despite its goofy as hell premise, Disk Wars was actually considered pretty good, not as good as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but definitely better than Avengers Assemble).
  5. He showed up in the Disk Wars anime...with Dio's VA.
  6. Yes it’s digital only. Can the Merc with a Mouth move manga fans to superhero adventures or is this destined for an early end like Spider Man Fake Red?
  7. Looks like it’s a smartphone game, and an anime. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-12-05/code-geass-franchise-gets-new-anime-series-smartphone-game/.167111
  8. https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2020/12/04/oscar-isaac-to-live-the-dream-as-solid-snake-in-hollywoods-metal-gear-solid-movie?utm_source=community_cr&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=news&referrer=community_cr_twitter_news Just stop studios. You’re never making any of these game or anime properties into films. Ever. You’re never making Gundam, never making Naruto (thank God), and never making Bioshock. Knock it off. Isaac will be in some drama next year.
  9. The biggest shot for HBO MAX yet. Warner movies. All of them. No extra cost.
  10. Invest in some sound equipment for the holidays. And a bigger TV.
  11. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/01/arts/television/best-tv-shows.html?smid=tw-nytimesarts&smtyp=cur Not the only animated show there as Bojack Horseman got a spot.
  12. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-11-29/my-hero-academia-gets-3rd-anime-film-in-summer-2021/.166824 Fun fact - Legendary is currently sitting on an option for a live action Academia film, but has done nothing with it. The option was announced October 2018.

    Astro girl

They aren’t stupid enough to do that, I hope. “Astro Girl” could be a placeholder title until things get taken over. There was a similar issue with a local Fox affiliate over here when they scored the rights to Seinfeld. Since another network was using the Seinfeld name, they used a placeholder name “Jerry and Elaine.”

  15. Ok, so that’s three votes to keep the school stuff in, although again, I feel like if they did make it a LA show and kept the school element (presumably to keep a familiar set and not spend metric fucktons of cash on Knightmare Frame battles every single episode), the sexual element would be ramped up. Why am I even thinking about this? We’re gonna get a mobile game. Even if I did finish a pitch for an adaptation (not that I’m working on one, I have a 9-5), I’m pretty sure every single streaming service would laugh it out of their offices.
  16. I’ve said in some other places, that Americans don’t really trust Americans with adult action cartoons. We know now thanks to empirical data from streaming services people like the damn things, but for the most part, if an American studio makes it, and it’s not based on a video game license (Seis Manos wouldn’t have flopped if it was a Final Fight or Streets of Rage show), the viewing public is going to go “Ehhh...” and pass. And let’s be frank, can you really blame them? Blood of Zeus was pretty stock, cliche, and boring. The violence was interesting but the general meat of the plot couldn’t hold it all together. Someone throw more licenses at Powerhouse so they can make something non-craptacular. I mean, I guess they are doing Splinter Cell. Maybe they can try this again now that Roar is dead -
  17. That was the dark ages, before On Demand and shows being made with the sex element in mind for Western audiences. Although if you were going to keep the school stuff, there would be one of two ways to do it. The first idea is make everyone over 18 and really lean into the sexual element by making subtext, plain text. (AKA you know that Lelouch was probably having lots of hate sex with CC during the first season, go full Riverdale and just show it on screen). That would help with reducing how much time really expensive Knightmare Frame mecha battles have on screen, so you can make those things pop more. The second idea would just be to reduce the school setting to an absolute skeleton, eliminate all filler involving them (everyone chasing the cat with Zero's mask, the Season 2 cultural festival, etc), and expand all the other stuff. Then again, I'm pretty sure that Sunrise has the original Season 2 pitch of Geass somewhere in their offices, and from what I remember, it was drastically different from what we got. Yes, I've been thinking about this a bit more than I oughta. Why do you ask?
  18. Rewatching the show, you would need to take a chainsaw to the school stuff if they do lose their marbles and make a LA Geass. It’s objectively the worst part.
  19. An episode of Hellsing Ultimate has Alucard arguing with the spirit of his gun, who’s clearly supposed to be Bruce Willis. You tell me the show was meant to be completely serious after watching that.
  20. Why do you know this?
  21. This is very true. The only real issue is Genndy himself has gone on record saying he didn’t want it on the block because he feared it would limit the audience.
