  1. Yeah, that’s about right. If they get shows with fanservice it’s in spite of, rather than because of.
  2. Gotta compete with Netflix One Piece somehow.
  3. It sells. There needs to be a balance between idiotic Puritanism and blatant LCD.
  4. When does Toonami ever get fanservice laden anime? Tamaki doesn’t make it a fanservice anime. The few times they did, because it was a package deal, the ratings destroyed everything else.
  5. They’re willing to work with DeMarco. Also, it is apparently not a sequel to a previous Production IG product.
  6. Before you get too excited, remember their last collaboration was the FLCL sequels. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2020-07-04/production-i.g-plans-to-announce-new-collaboration-anime-with-adult-swim-at-comic-con/.161458
  7. Now if FUNiNow or Netflix could have the dub...
  8. It was competing with a legitimate fight of the year candidate. No one was tuning out till the decision was made.

Celebrities pushing films and shows are out. This is the age of the IP driven maxiseries.
  10. We all know it will be inevitable. The important thing is a Season 2 is coming.
  11. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-07-02/dr-stone-anime-season-2-premieres-in-january-2021/.161366 Science is back on Toonami with the most popular animated misanthrope scientist since Dexter.
  12. Yeah, Love Hina kind of...sucked, didn’t it? I’m as anti censorship as they come, but it sucked.
  13. https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2020/06/29/love-hina-manga-creator-discusses-mangas-freedom-of-expression-with-japanese-government Long story short, Ken Akamatsu went directly to the Japanese diet because he and other manga creators are terrified of being forced to adjust to the censorship happy West. Naturally outrage channels are having a field day with this news -
  14. That’s Toonami’s last major draw gone for now. Went out on a high note at least.
  15. So last time, Endeavor proved he wasn’t public symbol material. Also in the past the world was menaced by...Destro. Today we learned that Endeavor is still not public symbol material, but that’s all the world has. Sort of like in continuities where Superman is dead and it’s up to the C listers to handle stuff. It’s not great, but it’s the best the world has, this short tempered Human Torch. Speaking of...
  16. Ninja Slayer is just a Japanese take on Aqua Teen style humor. Change my mind.
  17. Baki Raitai Tournament Episode 1. Finally the dub is ready.
  18. He’s not Moose. Besides, every single Avatar knockoff or spiritual successor, including Korra, has been a flop.
  19. A day later...it still looks like dogshit. Also Avatar clones are never successful. Avatar’s own sequel wasn’t successful. Stop it Western animators. No one wants this shit.
  20. It is utterly insane and wonderful for that reason.
  21. The coffers are empty, the budget is bone dry, and the industry is in major, major flux. Put simply, I don’t think they had a choice. When you’re reduced to airing Ballmasterz episodes because you don’t have the time, the budget, or the inclination to get materials from even the cousins in the same media family (and even that’s a major question mark as sale rumors for Crunchyroll ramp up) you grit your teeth and deal with it. DB Super is not ideal until a new season is inevitably made. It is infinitely preferable to Ballmasterz or more license rescues from the Dark Ages. Otherwise why not just re-air Pilot Candidate? This is the best of a really bad hand.
  22. For all my ragging on One Piece, it looks like gold compared to the legions of shitty Avatar clones, like Voltron Legendary Disappointment, like this Onyx Equinox horseshit, etc. I get it completely.
  23. That fake anime vibe pisses me the hell off as well from all these Avatar knockoffs, so I get it.
