  1. Oh Tumblr, assuming everyone is gay and losing your minds when they aren’t.
  2. And of course their big reveal is a...questionable reboot of SBTB. Because Zack Morris is Trash.
  3. https://www.thewrap.com/whats-on-peacock-tv-shows-movies-streaming-service-the-office-nbcuniversal/ https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/16/21068607/nbc-peacock-streaming-service-price-launch-date-ads-universal-comcast-office-harry-potter I am so going to part with my...$5 a month for a Goddamn Saved by the Bell reboot.
  4. I would love to poll a random theatre of people going to see MHA Rising next month and ask how many of them watch the show on Toonami. I would bet it would be between 1/4 - 1/5 of the theatre.
  5. I could rant for hours about the issues with nepotism and insular industries, but you see it in the fact that everything looks the same unless you outsource to Japan, Dungeons and Dragons jokes that no one in the age demo gets because the writers all play it while no one else does, and what is often framed online as veiled threats saying “don’t make fun of our show or you will NEVER get a job in animation.” And yeah, hindsight is 20/20 and all because 2011 Cats was getting ripped into for its unlikable cast and non-ending. But people saw this serious show that didn’t get an ending replaced with the overdone Western bean mouth shows which all use the same jokes, have the same people defending it, and then they wonder why everyone is so mean. It’s gotten to the point where the Teen Titans Go people are going to make an episode entirely about defending Roar from fans of the original and the 2011 remake. https://heroichollywood.com/teen-titans-go-roasts-thundercats/ When Netflix released its top 10 lists for most viewed shows, absolutely none of the CalArts remakes or Avatar clones made it in any category. No She-Ra, no Dragon Prince, (but Boss Baby made it, so yeah), etc. Meanwhile the Colossal Titan mural still greets people leaving Penn Station and Madison Square Garden two months after Anime NYC. This era of cheap western parodies is coming to an end, and I feel like Thundercats Roar will be the tail end of the trend. Especially with WarnerMedia now clamping down on their purse strings and Netflix essentially being All Hands on Deck for their originals.
  6. Most of the anime that hit theatres was the crowd pleasing kind like Promare. So I kind of get it. I haven’t seen any of the short films for animation, so let’s fix that.
  7. We know why they’re upset.
  8. Something I’ve noticed and it speaks to how badly the Western animation industry has fallen off, is that the only people defending the show claim to know people who worked on it, or are clearly angling for a job. It’s nepotism of the worst sort.
  9. https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/13/entertainment/academy-award-nominations-2020-oscars/index.html Joker leads the pack with 11 nominations, and unsurprisingly Film Twitter is furious.
  10. This isn’t a hentai?
  11. Levius 5-8 Fire Force 10-18.
  12. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-01-10/my-hero-academia-heroes-rising-film-opens-in-u.s-canada-on-february-26/.155224 Not much else to say except despite missing Toonami ratings the show has popularity in other fields.
  13. So many of Ben’s complaints just blend together at this point I tend to ignore them. Particularly that one. I must have missed it since I was focused on the other quoteblock.
  14. This is why Scorsese said what he did. Also not sure what any of this has to do with One Piece besides French Twitter wanting this one actress to stay the fuck away from Nami.
  15. It’s not confirmed, but it seems everyone involved is looking for work, which means this is probably a one and done. Have fun being squeezed between TT Go reruns.
  16. DeMarco is editing that shit.
  17. 1. True, but it was...fairly easy to lay into. I dunno, I guess I was still in making fun of the pest mode, coupled with the anime being slow as molasses. 2. Shuri is the character from Black Panther, T’Challa’s sister who handles all the tech. And here’s the fake article. Quite the difference from the big breasted, money hungry redhead navigator, eh? A lot of French Twitters said that the actress needed to fuck off, she was ugly, the show was doomed if she played Nami, etc. 3. The Witcher series is based on the books, which come before the games. It’s also pretty good. I liked Mandalorian a lot as well, so both were good shows, giving OP big shoes to fill.
  18. With CR as a key part of the service - I think they’re doing well if Business Daddy moved them into upgraded digs.
  19. Thundercats is a Toonami vet, so I post direct sequel/spinoffs here.
  20. This show is pretty fun, but it’s much closer to Hercules: The Legendary Journeys than Thrones. And I haven’t thought about that show in forever.
  21. Such is the fate of the franchise that’s been with Toonami since the beginning. https://www.cartoonnetwork.com/video/thundercats-roar/exodus-part-1-episode.html https://www.cartoonnetwork.com/video/thundercats-roar/exodus-part-2-episode.html The Bean Mouth trend is on its way out, mostly because these shows don’t make money and don’t draw product. I feel like this is the equivalent of the old Friday Night Death Slot.
  22. Well I liked the metal cover. My point stands that The Witcher blew up during the holidays so it would make perfect sense to get a show with a similar aesthetic.
  23. I’d say get either Goblin Slayer or Shield Hero, even if they are older, so they can mooch off the popularity of a certain Netflix show.
  24. IIRC, the author made a pledge in an interview to stop using rape and sexual assault in his stories. Considering how bad the show has used those elements before, it’s welcome to hear.
