  1. It’ll always be on the verge of cancellation in our hearts.
  2. After GXP who would want to see War on Geminar? Fool me once...
  3. Because at this point the default thinking is “Toonami is going to die any second now”.
  4. That’s not how flattening the curve works.
  5. Tis true. If someone does decide to air the proto isekais, either that or Rayearth would be good.
  6. Rick and Morty do a Lone Wolf and Cub homage.
  7. Lupin never captured American’s imaginations and the Gundam series were airing and doing well on Hulu and Youtube and Netflix. Yamato never had that exposure, which gives it a chance. It‘s probably a good idea to call it Star Blazers 2199 though, so people realize it’s a remake of that.
  8. Alright, let’s play Fantasy Scheduler. Haven’t done this in years - 11:30 - Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 12:00 - Space Battleship Yamato 2199/2202 12:30 - SSSS Gridman 1:00 - Rising of the Shield Hero 1:30 - JoJo Golden Wind And continue as normal. Mob makes sense at 11:30 if a dub is available. Season 1 aired. Yamato is something that Toonami really should have picked up earlier (I suggested it as early as 2017, as it was a remake of a sci-fi anime that didn’t have complete contempt for the thing in the title). Gridman, again, show they should have aired earlier. It’s Trigger, it’s a loose remake of the show that became Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad which will get some eyes to bug out, it’s really good in the dialog and action. If we have to get an isekai, well, this one has two more seasons coming up, and if nothing else, will get people talking. Given SAO’s success, I could easily see Shield Hero securing a similar audience. JoJo is probably going to be airing because the alternative is rights lapsing and Netflix getting it sooner.
  9. I generally don’t binge entire shows at once, but what I do appreciate is being able to watch a show 5 days a week vs 1 day at a week. Given Toonami’s origins you would think DeMarco would appreciate that. I’m also not a fan of people ripping the competition in general over their format. There was this belief back when that only Williams Street did it right and if you suggested anything else, you were a hater. Show me what you bring to the table, rather than take shots at others.
  10. Has DeMarco publicly decried isekai? I know if the dearth continues I’ll continue to recommend he get Shield Hero. All that being said, things don’t have a chance of returning to normal until mid-May. Best thing to do is grin and bear it because it’s effecting everyone. At least Toonami is doing better than the US comic industry.
  11. One Piece was confirmed for Netflix a week ago as a lead up to the LA version. No word on the debut date.
  12. Looks like another Netflix jab. We’re not going back to the pre-Internet days, I’m sorry.
  13. I’m pretty sure at this point you’re just giving Fred Perry ideas for his next MHA comic. (The artist of Gold Digger has a rather interesting pastime).
  14. As someone who adores G Gundam, adores it...come on.
  15. Counterpoint - The X-Men stories like “Kitty’s Fairy Tale” (or Jubilee’s Fairy Tale theater), etc. That and the anime has been better than something around the last 15-20 years of X-Men comics.
  16. It’s a film, first of a trilogy. Personally it feels like more Gundam stuff that isn’t Crossbone Gundam.
  17. https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2020/03/26-1/gkids-nabs-lupin-the-3rd-the-first-for-us-theatrical-release?utm_source=community_cr&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=news&referrer=community_cr_twitter_news More CG film follies, but this one was actually widely praised.
  18. MHA Season 3. Onto season 4! Or...considering the cringe Marvel has been putting out, the best X-Men stories in decades have nothing to do with the freaking X-Men!
  19. With the exception of the last gasp of the Fox Men, the news is dominating ratings for obvious reasons. At least Toonami is working mostly unimpeded, but that’s cold comfort for most stuck in their homes.
  20. At least the manga and anime industry are doing better than the Western comic direct market. The sole distributor of Western comics, Diamond Publications, has shuttered its doors, and the entire comic direct market may die by the time this is all over.
  21. Onward - 2/10. So much cringe in the first 15 minutes led me to hitting stop. I never intend to see the rest.
  22. People working remotely not spending money on travel will probably be taking very long vacations far the fuck away from their homes once they get the all clear. Wouldn’t mind visiting a beach resort when (key word when) it’s safe to do so.
  23. The way Oda is describing it, live action OP is supposed to be its version of Kai. This meanwhile is The Final Act.
  24. The world is shutting down for at least a month, more likely 8 weeks. Toonami’s going to need to raid the rerun chest or see what shows Crunchyroll outright owns to air.
  25. Comic books can destroy themselves down the road they chose. Close every comic stop, release all this cringe on the market, I no longer care. I just want this nonsense away from the medium everyone went to after leaving comics.
