  1. Episode 2 of Season 2 is out, and boy oh boy is it awful. The Union’s origin is quite frankly one of the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Go watch Sakugan or AMAIM. If DeMarco is smart, he will stay far, far away, and Michael B Jordan will treat this series the way Will Smith treats Wild Wild West.
  2. Of all the cuts MHA has done with Western comics, referencing Baby Doll from that one episode of Batman The Animated Series wasn't one I was expecting.
  3. A day in, let's review the casting - Inaki Godoy as Luffy - No, I've never seen him in anything but it's clear from his welcome video that he can get across the goofy energy that Luffy is known for, and he looks the part. The question is if he can handle the serious stuff. And hey, Mexican lead in what plans to be one of the biggest shows Netflix has ever done. That's pretty cool. Mackenyu as Zoro - The son of the legendary Sonny Chiba, the guy is starting his Western acting career (following a bit role in Pacific Rim Uprising) as Zoro and Pegasus Seiya. Way to start head first. Still, he does his own action scenes. Emily Rudd as Nami - Rudd has been a fan of OP even before this and was apparently campaigning for the role. She was apparently in the Fear Street movies, which I haven't seen. Jacob Romero Gibson as Ussop - Oda said Ussop was African, so everyone claiming "wah, diversity" can shut the fuck up. Don't think he's been in too much either. Taz Skylar as Sanji - Well... Come on, I can't be the only one who sees it.
  4. Sort of a microcosm of everything wrong with the productions. Amateurs with no leg to stand on getting to tell a story.
  5. …They’re airing the second LA movie but not the first? Shouldn’t the first air the week before or something?
  6. The guy playing Zoro is apparently the son of the late great Sonny Chiba. That’s a point in his favor. (Fun fact, his dad played Golgo 13 in a live action movie).
  7. The live action Strawhats may have leaked -
  8. Deadline has the total announcements here - https://deadline.com/2021/11/netflix-slate-japanese-anime-live-action-titles-1234870477/ Stone Ocean will be released monthly in 12 episode increments. Yu Yu Hakusho debuts December 2023. Alice in Borderland S2 hits next year to scratch the Squid Game itch. More Aggretsuko next month. Gundam reveals its first concept art heavily implying it’s an adaptation of the original series. No word on who Chris Pratt might play. Seven Deadly Sins movies. Season 2 of Tiger and Bunny. And some other stuff.
  9. Actually IIRC I think they were going to release Stone Ocean weekly. Of course if that’s not true please feel free to throw eggs and tomatoes at the nearest Netflix employee.
  10. Also 20 titles. I expect to hear Chainsaw Man and possibly Kaiju No 8.
  11. They’re releasing one episode at a time, and now are going for an “all sides are bad” approach.
  12. The Reddit is not happy. The animation is even worse (no one likes Dragon Prince for the animation, they like it despite that), and the plot is not good. Toonami would be better suited getting AMAIM or Sakugan.
  13. Would have fit right in with Iron Maiden the other week. Does anyone have a video of what they did air if it wasn’t Ozzy and Motörhead?
  14. Music video? It wasn't this one, was it? I feel like if Ozzy debuted this anniversary video/tribute to Lemmy on Toonami, it would have been bigger news.
  15. One year later, a director has been found, Julius Avery from Overlord. https://deadline.com/2021/11/overlords-julius-avery-sony-pictures-gantz-1234865947/
  16. Every single stretch goal was met and some Netflix executive is probably researching who needs to be paid to make a remake.
  17. Crunchyroll throws shade at their rival streamer over the project. https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-feature/2021/11/01/feature-is-it-even-possible-to-make-a-live-action-one-piece?utm_source=community_cr&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=news_feature_tweet_from_author&referrer=community_cr_twitter_news_feature_tweet_from_author Here I am thinking “Bitch, you funded High Guardian Spice. Shut the fuck up and don’t throw stones from your glass house.”
  18. Apparently the show also has Gravity Falls vets and is worth watching for that.
  19. The manga is the only one in the top 20 adult graphic novels charts without an adaptation. It was inevitable.
  20. Part II trailer trying to tell people they’re sorry for the Part I hiccups - Also new voices announced - Danny Trejo as Machete and Method Man as Clamp Champ.
  21. Can we talk about something that's been bugging me a bit? Not the show itself, the horse is pretty much glue, but the feeling that a lot of writers writing shows for young adults write them as kids shows? That's how you end up with kids shows where no kids watch like The Owl House (which is cancelled) or this mess which is essentially a kids show with some blood and gore added in (and no network censoring the word transgender). Is it just me or does that feel really...immature? If you're a kids show, shouldn't you be targeting kids? If you're for an older audience shouldn't the writing reflect that? I'm spitballing here but this show was dumpster fire from Day 1 and now sits at a 1.5/5 rating. In contrast, EX-Arm sits at 1.7/5, Onyx Equinox despite its poor view count has a 4/5, and The Rising of the Shield Hero has a 4.8/5.
  22. New trailer, still looks like QUALITY.
  23. FX (before FXX) had one possible entry into action cartoons, and they turned it down when they didn’t pick up Attack on Titan. I see no reason they would go in now.
