  1. It figures. Powerhouse (Castlevania’s Studio) keeps trying to use Lodoss influence in its works, so this is quid pro quo.
  2. He was winning the first fight until that knockdown in the 12th. I’m more curious if Wilder can land this time.
  3. Put simply, being so far behind = Not being a primary source. Let’s see the box office numbers for Rising before we decide who gets the blame, though. Next week is Wilder vs Fury II. That’s gonna be fun times for the ratings.
  4. I’m more surprised people are taking an award show made by Crunchyroll seriously.
  5. ...The series is on HDive if you want to see for yourself, I guess?
  6. Another censored broadcast has been taken off the air, but the premium channel airings continue unabated. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-02-18/interspecies-reviewers-anime-airing-on-kobe-sun-tv-canceled/.156575 This show is anime Big Mouth. There’s a moral here but it’s buried under blatant sex acts.
  7. They didn’t announce a TV airing till a week after the internet launch. Title updated to reflect that.
  8. So what you’re all saying is DeMarco really is mad he’s no longer the head tastemaker for anime in the US? You know I joked about it but there may be some truth to the exaggeration.
  9. Orphen 3 Mob Psycho 100 1
  10. It’s a weird time for Toonami and WarnerMedia. Given Crunchyroll’s presence on HBO MAX and the fact that they were given new offices, it’s clear anime is a big part of the streaming strategy for them going forward. The problem is Toonami is sort of a second cousin of that. Shows that are available elsewhere along with some originals, all on a minuscule budget from the larger and better known Adult Swim brand. As much as DeMarco hates it, he is no longer the arbiter for what is and isn’t popular in the anime community because it’s not just hardcore weebs asking for scraps anymore. With every aspect of every channel focusing on original content, Toonami is a bit of an outlier still licensing from FUNi. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Toonami isn’t cancelled, but re-branded as a Crunchyroll block for maximum brand synergy at this point.
  11. I found a pretty good video on the subject, not about what’s woke or any nonsense like that, but getting to the core of the matter - Licensing sight unseen can be a complete crapshoot, especially when the manga was far tamer.
  12. You know I think I’m the only one who gave a straight answer. Clearly I misread the assignment.
  13. That’s my usual baseless conspiracy theory. Although Warner putting Crunchyroll as a major part of HBO MAX is...eye opening.
  14. It works...sometimes. The problem is overuse. Look, the team will need to get real jobs after this given they’re persona non grata thanks to Toei, so I expect this Patreon to go badly.
  15. Unlike LK, who turned his abridging into a VA career, Team Four Star was blacklisted by Toei themselves so they don’t have much of a future in the industry. So...have fun guys.
  16. If only. He’s clearly not equipped for it. Then again he’s not equipped to take on streaming services either.
  17. Original programs cost money. Seriously, if there was ever a time to use that Crunchyroll partnership and get shows from CR to fill slots, now is the time.
  18. Backlash continues as Chinese company Tencent (a Chinese mega Corp with a disturbing amount of influence in digital platforms) delisted MHA and ceased production on a smartphone game they were making. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2020-02-05/my-hero-academia-manga-anime-removed-from-chinese-digital-platforms/.156125
  19. That ship sailed a decade ago. Great when Toonami/ASA was the only game in town, less so when every streaming service got it and spread it online for 24/7 viewing.
  20. Even so, it’s still airing at the ass end of Saturday night. No one realized this was going to be the “X-Men for millennials”. (At this point they might as well get the guy who went “Previously on X-Men” to go “Previously on My Hero Academia”.)
  21. MHA is super popular, the problem is Toonami will never be a primary source for anything but Toonami exclusives.
  22. And Ryuk is trending under politics.
  23. The lyrics are “In the Navy” The chorus is “YMCA.” Either way it’s not to be taken seriously.
