This show is so bad people will probably start retroactively declaring Outlaw Star the superior space cowboy show. Until Amazon adapts that and we see who they got to play Aisha.

Well I can’t imagine the Blade Runner license was cheap. -

Apparently it wasn’t so cut and dry. I believe Sketch explained it that they had the SD rights, but not the HD. -

We would have seen a Bebop extravaganza this week most likely…but Netflix has those over the air rights in a presumed preventive effort. -

I’m trying to figure out what they can get on their thimble budget with still friendly people. Shenmue is coming, and I presume DeMarco is doing everything in his power to keep Demon Slayer S2 off Netflix for as long as he can. What else? Gen:Lock season 2 is shit (and would require more edits) and the other Shounen are ready when they’re ready. How about Eighty Six? -

If I were DeMarco I would beg for more DC animated movies. That or just say “Screw it” and ask to premiere Peacemaker a few weeks after the HBO Max airing. They need new material from somewhere, and that DC well is pretty much all they have between them and endless reruns. -
Blade Runner: Black Lotus gets a marathon on December 4

I think if they had the rights, we would have seen Bebop already, probably with an ad campaign railing against the abomination on Netflix. -

Same week Stone Ocean hits Netflix, in case you wondered how the market looks in 2021. -

I almost never ask for this, but I genuinely want DeMarco to make a TOM speech bit crapping all over this show (and other live-action adaptations that miss the point). -
remember that robot chicken inuyasha skit?
Jman replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
My theory has always been that it was a method of lording the fact that they essentially had a complete monopoly on the airing of anime via legal channels back then (key word LEGAL, plenty of weebs used KaZaa or DC++ to get shows illicitly) because they knew anime fans had no choice. Their house, their rules, and that made them easy punching bags. Not the case now, with Netflix buying the stuff like it has an expiration date, FUNi and Crunchyroll merging and taking their materials direct to consumer, and all the other streamers that feel the need to have at least some anime on their lineup (Peacock got the RetroCrush library just to have some anime on their service). Telling the fans they don't have a choice when they clearly do is unwise. -

OK, if anyone's seen the ending of the first season, I wish all the writers behind this show a very pleasant fuck off forever. Why can't stuff just be good? You had a perfect blueprint! -

Yeah, but Inuyasha was mostly liked by teenage girls, so it was OK to ruthlessly mock them! -

I saw Ed. You want things to be good, right? I mean, internet snark aside, I think we'd all be happier if stuff was good. And not this...complete dogshit. I am seriously wondering if Oda is going to pull the plug on One Piece right now. Yes there's a full scale replica of the Going Merry in Cape Town, but THIS is shit and if they can't do better for One Piece, then they shouldn't get to make One Piece. -

And this is why Saint Seiya has the same stunt team Jackie Chan taught (the ones from Shang Chi). -

You know the story of when Disney was localizing Princess Mononoke and Miyazaki's producer sent Harvey Weinstein a sword that embedded with the words "No cuts"? I predict Oda is probably sending a similar veiled death threat with the words "I saw Bebop. Do not fuck up like they did." -
Gen:Lock Season 2 premieres November 4 on HBO Max

Episode 3 (minimal spoilers in case this trainwreck comes to Toonami anyway). We have a full on sex scene. With this animation. Just try and process that, and then realize most Rooster Teeth fans, if they wanted to see a sex scene, probably wanted it to involve the girls from RWBY (you know I'm right!). -
woman charged for selling 6.5 million yen in illegal demon slayer cakes
Jman replied to CountFrylock's topic in Anime & Manga
I imagine she would need to sell it as a “custom art piece as the client dictated” in a similar manner to doujin. When you make it appear this is mass production, the lawyers come in. -
If the show debuted last month, it would be a decent CG show but nothing groundbreaking, which is a bad look for something associated with Blade Runner anyway. Now? It’s competing against a raised bar. This seems to be a major issue with Toonami, beaten to the punch in quality and timing by opposition that doesn’t always bat a thousand and has quite a bit that could be considered straight up crap (oh hai Yasuke) but seems to absolutely crush it when it matters.

From what I understand, big chains need to get the license (Walmart and the like) while local bakeries can’t advertise online. It’s like how a custom costume shop isn’t technically making a Batman(TM) costume, but a generic Bat-guy costume. This owner advertised online and since Japan is way stricter about this sort of thing, sent in the lawyers. -

Official reviews are out and are thoroughly divided. There’s a lot of people who liked it as well as people who despised it. Not going to lie, it feels like the people who hated it were people who went in wanting to hate it, and vice versa. -

Reviews seem mixed as hell as both sides declare victory in the ongoing culture war. You were never going to get a consensus here. -
Live Action One Piece, from sheer confusion to Season 2 renewal.

Creeps. If they expect anyone outside of a porn star with plastic surgery to have those proportions, they need to go outside and touch some grass. She was the only one who campaigned for the role! She’s fine. Apparently Taz Skylar’s been posting some Tik Tok videos showing him doing some Sanji mannerisms and he seems to nail them. As long as he’s not cooking with the blue and yellow purple pills he’ll be fine. Give me a bit to get over the look. This probably won’t be out till 2023 earliest anyway.
