Most channels don’t have the Instant Win button that is the NFL. Christmas football > Anything Adult Swim could reasonably air.

Tetsujin 28 2004. I believe I found one of the best uses of licensed music in anime that didn’t stick in dubs since Speed Grapher replaced Duran Duran with a shitty instrumental.

Live Action One Piece, from sheer confusion to Season 2 renewal.

Oda claims to be personally involved in reviewing and editing S1 of the show; Don’t do that Oda. We all know it’s going to be Bebop all over again. Not to mention with Netflix being so cancel happy any more than two seasons will be a miracle. -
I don’t have one, but it looks awesome even if it makes my old Atari Lynx look svelte. Everyone seems happy with their Gabe Gear.

so crunchyroll commercials have been airing on adultswim

At this stage of the game, the idea of people being "Toonami only" when Netflix and Crunchyroll have collectively smashed their audience to nothingness is kind of shocking. -
Regardless of how this movie turns out, this teaser is already brilliant. It helps that Gerwig has won an Oscar, and is very enthusiastic about exploring the rather interesting duality Barbie has in pop culture. Feminist but regressive, a doll with dozens if not hundreds of variants showing her doing just about every job society has, but is often viewed as a vapid bimbo stereotype. Tells girls they can be anything, but is often accused of promoting an unrealistic standard of beauty and an idealized body image. So yeah, compare her to the 2001 monolith.

That’s a kick in DeMarco’s jorts. -
Let’s give the DC characters another kick in the balls while we’re at it. After being spoiled by Shaft’s very good animation for Ice Queendom, we’re getting a RWBY/Justice League crossover that is 100% Rooster Teeth QUALITY. Why the fuck didn’t Zaslav liquidate Rooster Teeth before he canceled the Batman Beyond movie?!

Yes the teaser is a big 2001 homage.

See this is why I watched Lookism instead this week. -
Yeah, but all the good comics have been used. Seriously, we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel over at the House of Ideas (Tomb of Dracula, Werewolf by Night, Ms. Marvel), DC has no clue what it’s doing, and indie comics worth a damn have dried up. The problem is that manga adaptations don’t work nearly as well because they’re much less malleable. So they naturally go for the most obvious Shounen Jump titles with no way to translate that into a visual medium, or change so much the end result is slurry (the script for the LA Gundam from the Paper Girls and Y the Last Man guy is supposed to be complete shit). So be on the look out for Chainsaw Man in 2026 starring that black kid from Cobra Kai as Denji. And it’s directed by Quentin Tarantino. (Actually, Tarantino is the one director I would actually somewhat be morbidly curious with a Chainsaw Man movie).

I stand by my theory that if Uzumaki blows another deadline Zaslav kills it.

The thing is, even despite what some corners of the internet think about TT Go, Cartoon Network doesn't have a credibility problem. They have a viewership problem. A lot of their shows are award winners, are lauded for their diversity and inclusion, and do well critically. For instance, Craig of the Creek, a show Zaslav canceled and is apparently sending to tax-writeoff hell, has a 100% critic score and 81% audience score with its small, dedicated audience. That means jack shit to Zaslav. If the shows can't perform in the viewership metrics, they're worthless to this guy. So what they need is fresh talent that will make mass market appeal shows, rather than stuff like Owl House which was very niche, very targeted, and great for credibility with critics because diversity. Unfortunately, credibility doesn't pair down the debt. And if you don't have the people who can make mass appeal shows, you need to find them, or provide them ways to enter your company. I don't think we're completely disagreeing, because the core point is Cartoon Network needs fresh creators with new ideas. The thing is those ideas are probably going to hem closer to Cow and Chicken than Amphibia.

Bullet Train - 7.5/10. Stock story, good twist, good actors. The definition of “Film I wouldn’t buy a ticket to but would watch when it’s on a streaming service.”
