  1. Kamen Rider Black Sun 1-2. A political/social drama that just happens to use tokusatsu monsters as its allegory for oppressed minorities, with the main heroes being a teenage protestor and an insect man with a bike.
  2. The Mouse keeping Bleach away from Warner makes a lot of sense from that angle. The problem is less “what money?” (Although that’s a huge problem) and more “Who wants to work with us?”
  3. Teaser, but again, no distributor.
  4. A set release date, but still no word on who is distributing it. Given Helluva Boss episodes have been freely distributed on YouTube one would gather that getting A24 means it’s Netflix or Amazon bound. I’m presuming Netflix given they have a working relationship with A24.
  5. That one was apparently on the production company. Netflix is maddeningly inconsistent. For every Baki or Bastard there’s some garbage Polygon production. Hell, their Godzilla entries are both complete garbage (The Polygon trilogy) and a very good if admittedly very dense story (Singular Point). Here’s hoping with all their alleged refinements this gets fixed soon.
  6. https://www.cartoonbrew.com/anime/netflix-anime-japan-series-production-222469.html?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Don+t+miss+the+latest+from+Cartoon+Brew%3A++RSS%3AITEM%3ATITLE&utm_campaign=Tuesday+Newsletter+(Free) This is big is true given Netflix’s own investments. Maybe they can finally switch to weekly releases. Broadcast releases outside of Japan though (and even there) are becoming less of an option as cord cutting accelerates and no one wants to do things on other peoples time.
  7. Looking it over, MHA S5 sounds like Crunchyroll finally was able to exercise an option to keep new episodes out of Toonami. Speaking of, between Crunchyroll releasing the animated movies, and Netflix gearing up for its LA Game of Thrones level adaptation, I’m wondering if they’re trying to get it off Toonami.
  8. Cyberpunk 2077. Yeah, I got it because of Edgerunners. But on a PS5, with two years worth of patches, I’m having fun. Probably due for more upgrades after this mission admittedly.
  9. "Murder He Wrote." It was actually pretty funny.
  10. DeMarco sounds like he’s at the end of his rope and this is how he deals with it.
  11. Another one lost to Crunchyroll. Which is a damn dirty shame.
  12. If that class action is any indication, Warner straight up lied or otherwise exaggerated about their assets.
  13. I can hear the chainsaw being revved by Zaslav already.
  14. Smoking as a habit has fallen in popularity by quite a bit admittedly.
  15. Yashahime, despite its apparent second half improvement, seems to have failed utterly to capture the magic of the original.
  16. Millie’s complete absence bothers me more than the lack of a cigarette (especially with the culture around them firmly have turned negative).
  17. Dub debuts today.
  18. Anyway, looks like reporters are saying this is an additional $2-$2.5 billion
  19. To be fair, the writers of Season 2 seemed to hate the fans as well, fans of mecha anime in particular. There’s literally an arc that amounts to “super robot anime are sexist and toxic” and admitting they suck is how a character gets over their toxic masculinity. And he dies five minutes later. Given Rooster Teeth runs into a new controversy every other week it seems, slicing the entire department and just giving RWBY to SHAFT to reboot properly would be the best thing to happen for all parties involved.
  20. I posted a pretty good argument for Gen:Lock to get chainsawed.
  21. We got a preview of the dub -
