I deny your hypothesis. There are some sounds that I enjoy and find soothing. The sound of pages being turned in a book can be very relaxing for example. Kittens purring is a definite. Neither of those things cause any sort of weird tingles or thoughts or whatever it is being alluded to here. Especially not the poor kittens. They are just really nice sounds that cause a relaxation response. For that matter, I used to camp out in the laundry room in the dorms when I had a big test to study for because the white noise from the machines running helped me concentrate better.

Today's temperature is a balmy 2'F with skin splitting arctic gusts while I was out running errands after work. This is actually a minor heat wave. It was around -30'F earlier this week. No 18 foot snowdrifts yet this year though. Sad face. The thing is, there are jobs here. Everyone is hiring because no one wants the jobs that are available [mostly minimum wage food service stuff and retail] . We got a massive influx of morons who thought that they'd automatically receive a brick of gold for showing up during the initial oil gush and then realized that they needed money to even live in the area because the various WalMarts decided they weren't going to be man camps anymore and let people live in their cars in the lots. We have a firey derailment about once a year from the oil mess. Pipes leak but most of the time it never really makes the news because leaks make the oil companies look bad especially after all the protests. Speaking of protests, the oil companies hired mercenary groups to cause problems but shhh, don't talk about that too much either. The ambient radiation levels of the state of North Dakota are higher then the highest readings from that nuclear meltdown that happened in Japan a few years back. And, if nukes fly, a good chunk of this state will split open and burn too because this is where the big boom-booms are buried. Bedrock makes solid launch pads once you've carved the holes down enough. IT is picking up though. We build and train drones and drone pilots.

FishCenter Live is one of the streaming programs from [adult swim] that centers around the two fish tanks they have in the main [what used to be the media] area of the building. Digital coins and other games are superimposed on the screens and the various fish earn points from that and phone calls that force people to deal with the hosts live. Th'lump, the star spangled puffer fish in the bubble tank, is best fish no matter what others say. MOM, the golden puffer in the main tank, snaps his beak so hard you can hear it through the glass and has bitten at least one celebrity who tried to stick a finger in there on a dare. Hamburger Eel is a +3 ft. stripped tube sock with googly eyes attached. There's a healthy selection of fish in both tanks, all with names and fans, and it's been airing for years.

Hell, I've noticed that, at least around here, the local grocery stores are getting into the 'box' fad by putting together Blue Apron-like boxes in the meat department. The boxes have all the stuff you need for the meal in question, cost about $12, and are pretty much guaranteed fresh because they are put together right at the store and only sit on the shelves for however long the sell by date would allow. I debated on trying a beef teriyaki stirfry but decided to stick with soup for now.
