If Discotek had TV rights to everything they license, I'd be pushing for the block to air Symphogear, with or without a dub. Mind you, I have all five seasons on Blu-ray, though I haven't watched past the second yet. [and i'd love to do content ratings images of it... or even clips]

The fact that they're airing the special twice is a row is pretty funny. Further proof that, yup, they got nothin'. But I also wasn't expecting IGPX to return, presumably using Discotek's new version, which is really cool. This is the best use of the DST hour for Toonami since Children Who Chase Lost Voices aired in 2016. No schedule for 11/11 yet; I suppose we'll use this thread for when it's ready, but it's nice to get confirmation now.

Predict Toonami in November/December 2023
Blatch replied to Toonamiguy321's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I feel like they could do reruns of the new FLCL sequels because the timing lines up really nicely: Grunge, Thanksgiving marathon, Shoegaze, Christmas marathons. But Scavengers Reign will probably get its [as] airing soon and it's definitely leading off Toonami shortly after, so those would be better off stuffed in the back. Maybe after this we can finally get a proper rerun rotation of all the FLCLs? What I find particularly interesting are the marathons: My Adventures with Superman hasn't gotten the treatment yet, so they might marathon it in December and spread it out over two weeks, just to remind people it exists and is getting another season. Who knows what the Thanksgiving marathon will be, but I think it'd be cool if they could do it for either One Piece or Shippuden, just for old times' sake, and as a parting gift if they go with the latter. But at this point, who knows if they're writing that stuff into the contracts? -
Discotek licenses and remasters IGPX for home release
Blatch replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Technically it is, but it's being made with a new anamorphic source that is closer to the original resolution, which is part of why the remaster looks as good as it does. We're at the point where Production I.G. giving access to the masters probably wouldn't be much of an improvement. This is a cool surprise, and it contributed to a strong Discotek Day overall. The last few editions actually haven't had much that interested me, but not this one. This set, Lyrical Nanoha S1, Belladonna of Sadness, and even that live-action film Kamikaze Girls are all on my wishlist. -
General Content Ratings Thread 2.0: Same Principle, Different Format
Blatch replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Anime & Manga
Hey, look at that: I set a deadline for myself and I almost managed to stick to it. I was going to upload this on Saturday before I realized I needed to make one more MoP clip then I thought, and then I opted not to post it yesterday thanks to a combination of semantics over whether or not Sunday is the start of the week... and a Phish webcast. To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 10: "Resonance" - TV-14L Episode 11: "The Value of Flesh" - TV-PGV Spy×Family Mission:19 - "A REVENGE PLOT AGAINST DESMOND / MAMA BECOMES THE WIND" - TV-14L Mission:20 - "INVESTIGATE THE GENERAL HOSPITAL / DECIPHER THE PERPLEXING CODE" - TV-14 Mission:21 - "NIGHTFALL / FIRST FIT OF JEALOUSY" - TV-PG Mission:22 - "THE UNDERGROUND TENNIS TOURNAMENT: THE CAMPBELLDON" - TV-14L Mission:23 - "THE UNWAVERING PATH" - TV-PGV Tanaka-kun is Always Listless Episode 1: "Tanaka-kun and Ohta-kun" - TV-PG Episode 2: "The Apprentice Application" - TV-PG Episode 3: "Gap Girl Echizen" - TV-PGL Episode 4: "Shiraishi's Secret" - TV-PGD Episode 5: "Tanaka-kun's Routine" - TV-PG Himegoto Episodes 1-3: TV-14DS Episodes 4-6: TV-14DLS Touhou Fantasy Kaleidoscope: The Memories of Phantasm Episode 2: "The Scarlet Mist Incident [part one]" - TV-14L Episode 3: "The Scarlet Mist Incident [part two]" - TV-14S Episode 4: "The Scarlet Mist Incident [part three]" - TV-14 The Idolm@ster Million Live! Episode 1: "My Very Own Dream Just for Me" - TV-G Four and a half months' worth of watching anime, and this is all I have to show for it. Too bad. I know I'm juggling, like, 15 shows right now that I'm doing ratings for in various forms, but don't think I'm going to stop with this fuckery, because here comes a new simulcast! It's called 16bit Sensation: Another Layer, and it's a show I've decided to watch for no reasons other than because it seems like it might be raunchy, and I don't know what's good for me. BTW, I'm doing clips of it. Look forward to that in a special slimmed-down edition of the usual rundown that will focus on currently-airing shows plus Memories of Phantasm. -
So I watched the first episode of this live but opted for a DVR replay of the second, mostly because I thought I needed a tiny bit of extra sleep to help power through grocery inventory. Spoiler alert: things turned out about the same, which for me was good enough. So anyway, I was personally a tiny bit disappointed by the second ep if only because I was expecting it to pile on that cool imagery we saw in the next-episode preview: our protagonists entering "imaginary time" and creating a giant chrome brain. It was so intriguing, but it turned out that was where they were hiding the necessary plot-relevant science experiment. At least the stuff focusing on Kana was good. If only she hadn't bailed on visiting the coming-of-age ceremony with her friends... Hopefully I'll pop in the thread tomorrow. Enjoy what will presumably be the last episode ever of FLCL, in all its unnecessarily-franchised glory.

I'm under the impression Zaslav doesn't do that anymore, but.. you know what? Let him cook. Getting rid of that show would be no big loss.

Dan Harmon’s latest show, Krapopolis, dismissed as boring and bland
Blatch replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I remember hearing that! And the show has arrived just in time for NFTs to be basically worthless. Talk about an unintentional period piece. [come out, ye black and tans and bored apes] -
Rick and Morty S7 to premiere October 15 at 11pm for 10 episodes
Blatch replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Will be interesting to see whether they went for a pure impressionist, like Family Guy did w/ Cleveland, or an established name. Either way, I like the new voice, though Rick's definitely struggling with the highs a bit. -

Funnily enough, I didn't at first, but after how badly FLCL Grunge went, I'm gonna be kinder to it if only because I feel Toonami's quota for shitty content has been filled. Not to mention that part where the last two epsiodes were delayed, and people apparently didn't watch the finale because they thought it was something called "X: The Movie".

toonami Predict Toonami in September/October 2023
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
The cool thing about this panel will be that the writers should be back in action and able to appear at it, and maybe the actors will be able to also. Looking forward to S2 of Smiling Friends in particular; hopefully Michael and Zack will give us the deets personally.
