Spy×Family S1E24 So happy to finally knock another one of these off. And the first scene of the episode, which had Yor feeling out of it and crashing into a pole, felt timely. I thought it was the flu, but I went to the doctor today and tested positive for strep throat. Really weird considering my throat is one of the few things that hasn't ached over the past week.

I don't think they're that bad, because at least some of them consider Chisato and Takina more as friendly rivals. Also, I like how the tallest student at the main campus, tall enough to pass for a professor in my eyes, looks like Alice Touhou. And I think she was in the first episode, given the flashback to that scene with Takina at the start of the most recent one I watched. Lycoris Recoil 4/5 [iiiiiiii'd catapult downtown]

Atsumare! Fushigi Kenkyu-bu 144-151 It looks like this series is ending soon. I've been reading the MangaDex discussion threads, am intrigued by future plot developments (not that this series has much of an overarching one), and hope Anbe sticks the landing... or does some galaxy-brain shit that messes with everyone. It's the least he can do after Squid Girl seemingly stayed inside for its entire run.

Onimai: I'm Your Sister Now! 1/2 and 3 Ninja Kamuy 3/4 Lycoris Recoil 3 Finally making progress. Kind of glad I didn't watch this LycoReco episode the first time around, as it would've harshed my buzz. Also, shout-out to Andrew Love as the "Exiled Instructor" in Kamuy #3. Picked his voice out right away.

I'm actually going to tape these episodes and watch 'em over time, so I'm thankful they're starting from the first episode. After this I guess I'll try to catch up on the rest via streaming. I figure it's the least I can do for a show from a franchise I respect and probably should've watched in its entirety when Toonami first aired it (I trailed off early in the Android saga).

This week is going to be the first time in a long time I'm genuinely interested in the ratings... albeit for the wrong reason. Do we think Toriyama's death helped boost turnout at least for Kai?

Doing anything at all at this point would be commendable. Feels like companies have laid off April Fools' gags in the pandemic era... except for the ones in Japan. This is just a random idea I've been kicking around in my head: what if this year's gag involves The Amazing Digital Circus? Maybe you could air the pilot episode (because the only thing that could make this series better is a TV deal) and then have other programming be themed to it like the Pibby gag from two years ago.

I'm assuming people will be disappointed it's J.C. Staff again, even though studios don't always correlate with production values for a show. Meanwhile, I'm just happy the MAPPA rumor didn't come true.

I wouldn't expect it to, but that's more a matter of principle. You know they'd pull out all the stops for JoJo's, but not so much a small-potatoes shonen property.

Or they paid to air it. Or seemingly never, in the case of that one Ghost in the Shell episode. Given how many shows Toonami has they can air for free, it's surprising the rerun rotation isn't bigger. And now they're bringing back Kai? Yeesh. Definitely agree with the idea that this would be a better idea for the first few hours of [as] on weekdays, though maybe don't want to mess with Checkered Past.

There's been talk about how if it happens, it won't be by David, since apparently a lot of the staff that worked on JoJo's has left. Personally, I could see it being in CG by a different studio, if only because that'd make animating those horsies easier. I mean, that's not what the average fan would want, but I think being in an alternate universe gives you another valid reason to do it.

I was under the impression it was like New Hampshire, although most of that is due to Hokkaido seeming pretty cool juxtaposed with pride for my home state. But you predicted years ago that Toonami's 2018 April Fools' Day stunt might lead to subbed shows airing at the ass-end of the block. This is some hilarious vindication. Yeah, this is a blatant space-filler and I guess you could look at it cynically, but I think this is a really cool move. It also gives Rickanime a path to air on the block without the risk of stinking up the joint ratings-wise. I'll probably watch the dub because I'll be able to see it live (at slight detriment to my sleep schedule), but I'll tape the sub and save it for some rainy days. I mean, hopefully the show is good enough to be worth a rewatch...
