Funnily enough, finding this out actually makes me more interested in watching Grunge, because if it's only three episodes, then if it's bad, it won't be for long. And it doesn't feel so bad now, doesn't it? But it also means that Shoegaze's peak won't be very tall; it might not even be a 4000-footer...

Nope. It was just announced, seemingly for the first time, that Grunge is only going to be three episodes, and so will Shoegaze. So who knows how they're going to wrap this all up. [classic toonami dysfunction]

I haven't watched anything on Toonami since Made in Abyss S2 ended, and that was a while ago. Funnily enough, I'm more interested in rewatching FLCL Progressive via the marathon than getting to my DVR recordings of Unicorn, my disinterest in the latter simply because I've heard other people say it's mid. And I didn't even bother to tape Superman. So yeah, it's been a slow year even by the usual standards of the post-COVID era.

I would say they'd do it next time Pete Smith Day rolls around, but they're apparently going to be losing Bob's Burgers soon. Maybe if they ever need to do an American Dad! marathon, they'll resort to that.

I work 8-5 five days a week, but at least I get Monday and Tuesday off. I thought about the block's beginning today, though I was out at 5:00 for other matters and wasn't interested once I got home. I'll have to do all of you a solid one of these days, as even back in the day I didn't watch these shows much.

I will, but only via my DVR. I kind of wanted to tape Progressive this week, but eh, it's the weaker of the two FLCL sequels and the one I'm not as keen on revisiting. And when it comes to 9/9, I'll be ponying up for da Grunge, and maybe even livetweeting it.

Hey, here's an idea: if Toonami's gonna air something from Sentai, how about Reincarnated as a Sword? The show is popular enough that they've actually managed to sell out their initial BD pressing. On top of that, it would help the block finally pop their isekai cherry and I hear it's anti-slavery! I'd definitely make an effort to watch this one if it popped up, and I'm normally averse to isekai.

Touhou Fantasy Kaleidoscope: The Memories of Phantasm Episode 2: "The Scarlet Mist Incident" [part one] a.k.a. "Interview Without the Vampire"

We decided this was probably the case a while ago, but personally, I don't mind it. It helps that he's seemingly a little less abrasive on here, and either way he provides some critical commentary I thought was missing from this place. Not everything has to be unicorns and rainbows, just as it wasn't back on the ASMB.

The same thing is happening to Spy×Family; in that case, the movie will be an original work, so I wouldn't get your hopes up... or down.

If Crunchyroll is only offering the block one sequel series per year, then that's not a thawing of tensions at all. More like taking the knife out six inches. The thing I always come back to in this regard is Sentai. Is their catalog actually open for business and DeMarco thinks he's too haughty for them, or does AMC have it locked up? I think the former is a lot more likely, but you never know. Either way, we've been talking about this for so long that the only way I can see this changing is if DeMarco is knocked off his perch and someone else takes the programming reins, and even then, that is by no means a guarantee. It's frustrating, and why I'm not as involved in speculative topics on here as much as I used to.

Where'd you hear that? I mean, I'm sort of with you, if only because Toonami couldn't air Dawn of the Deep Soul due to spooky rights voodoo, but I saw the movie and did enjoy it. I wouldn't be surprised if the next MiA anime is a movie, since the arc the series is on right now doesn't have a lot of material to cover.

I think it does belong over there, simply because this thread is a holdover of when the Other Anime and Toonami folders on the ASMB had different clientele, but everyone in the OA folder wanted a place to discuss Toonami. Just because Trunks has been gone for ages and they or other departed members wouldn't raise a stink doesn't mean we should upend tradition. I mean, I kind of am, but on the other hand, I do like the idea of the Toonami folder having an all-purpose thread for discussion to placate the old-timers. It's been just Poke and Empress for a while now, though if I was watching any of Toonami live right now and was interested in more than one show I would join in. Would be nice to have other people either way. So you can do what you want with it for now.

DeMarco has confirmed the MHA rerun will be staying. Gotta love the fact that you can never tell if something is intentional or an error nowadays. So how does that play into your theorizing? I do agree with you that double Shippuden is probably keeping a seat warm for Uzumaki.

Doesn't change the fact that we'll soon be down to only three premieres, but nice.
