how do you convince someone super introverted to do stuff
Hornshire replied to Naraku4656's topic in Free-For-All
So, there are some things you can do that will make it easier for them: - Have a core group of three to four people that you regularly hang with that can serve as a buffer from crowds. - Plan things well in advance, so they have plenty of time to store up energy for it. - Find events with smaller venues, or areas that can be isolated from everyone else. But to get them to agree to go in the first place (keep in mind that it is likely that they really do not want to go, even if they end up agreeing to) you need to explain what's so important to you about making them uncomfortable. And that's exactly what it is, so you should understand yourself why it's worth you pushing to them to do so. And don't ever suggest that it would be "good" or "healthy" for them. -
Describe your job without actually saying what it is

Defender of continuity. Facilitator of impossibility. We manifest stupid dreams into awkward realities. -
Then you don't quite understand it. There's no more point in having purpose than there is in having a job. Meaning, significance, fulfillment, usefulness... none of these have context at scale. All worth is determined at the individual level. Individuals determine their own paths, based on their own values and their own estimations of utility. One perceives the options available to them, and then makes a choice. The fact that those choices cannot divert forever from an eventual end changes nothing.

Such vanity, to believe that the callousness of existence bears any intent... that fleeting, insignificant dust motes merit any attention whatsoever.

The alternative is on the whole less desirable. It's less about resolve than it is discernment.

The means justify the ends.

Why does it matter? What difference does it make? What does the class of ship say about her status within the fleet, and how does that affect her character? What scenarios does the variance in capability or layout allow for, and how does that fit in to your plot? Essentially, what class of ship does the story itself call for? -
Probably the same guy that saves Tokyo from every other giant monster that isn't himself.

Words are incredibly useful, because they are the vessels by which ideas are transmitted. But a given set of words only matter insofar as the message they convey is backed by meaning. Just as a tin can itself will not satisfy one's hunger (it must contain food for that to be the case), script on parchment holds no actual power. A law that is not enforced has no sway, and a treaty that carries no consequence for being violated provides no protection. Action must support words, or else they are empty.

This girl at the Bergen Towne Centre called me a loser
Hornshire replied to Zenigundam's topic in Free-For-All
She called you a loser because you are a loser, loser. -
What is your signature "phrase" you always say?
Hornshire replied to fuggstop's topic in Free-For-All
We're pretty big on "Mmm." And it's not at all uncommon for us to throw out a "Hmm." So naturally We end up saying "Mmm-hmm." a lot, as well. -
Do everyone's originate from the same hoo ha, or separate ones? If separate, is it like a dedicated assignment, or simply the most recent that one has come in proximity to?

It's probably more of a personal end-is-nigh than a civilizational one. -
But what can the Borrowers do with our thoughts?

Where are they while you're having them? Where do they go once they've been had?

Too bad it won't help you. -
We don't, not actively at least. That We don't experience it is more a result of it avoiding Us.

No. Especially when it is deemed "necessary".

As a general principle, We despise dichotomy.

If you want someone to respect you, a good start is trying to be respectable.

You poor thing. -
Sandwich is a vacuous term with no inherent meaning. Not to suggest that isn't true of all words, but sandwich seems above average in this regard. The question "is X a Y" is seldom really about whether or not it is, but rather how comfortable one is with loose definitions. And the definition most under scrutiny is neither that of X nor Y, but of "is".
