That's interesting. My water heater is pretty new, and the gas valves and pilot starter are pretty easy to light so it might be worth the money. If you are renting I don't see how you'd have to pay for that though..

yes. the water heater in my house was manufactured in 2015 but it's definitely connected to gas lines so that bit about all newer ones being electirc might be a myth..
