I think you are mostly right. I don't post nearly as much because I'm often busy doing other things. I'll lurk a bit, decide that the level of general awful is just too high to put up with, and then not bother. I also have noticed that I'm far more apt to just put stupid idiots on the list (ignore list) and leave it at that. No reason not to honestly, if they just contribute vitriol I am not interested in that.
