what temperature do you turn your heat to in the winter
wacky1980 replied to Naraku4656's topic in Free-For-All
i'd kill for bills that small. the house bill goes down to around $150 when we're not running heat or air. $250 is normal in the summer. and $300 happens in the coldest winter months. before we did an efficiency overhaul at the bar, our bills in the summer would be over $1000/mo and about 70% of it was for cooling. -

i'm good down to 60 because i don't mind adding layers, but the wife and kids don't know how to self-regulate like a former homeless person can. got the nest set to 68 during awake hours and 65 during asleep hours. wife likes to bump it to 70 when i'm not looking, but i have it set to revert on schedule. we have a big old house, so it's usually a few degrees cooler away from the thermostat in some of the north-wall rooms. -
if i lived in the pitt, and didn't have to do another damn dj event tomorrow, i'd totally bring my wife along. if you ever tour though...

fr though, sounds awesome and i hope it turns out well!

bottled up the brown ale last night. nailed our expected gravity, and ended up at about 4.5% ABV. flavor wasn't spectacular, but it's hard to judge flavor when it's still warm and flat. we'll see what it tastes like in a couple weeks, after it's carbed up and ready for prime time. still haven't found the time to brew that porter either. harvest season is finally in full swing now, so my brew partner is pretty busy. we're looking at maybe sunday/monday if the weather takes a turn like the forecast says it might. in the meantime, we got in A LOT of good beers at the bar over the last few days. a few imperial stouts, a couple belgians, and some other goodies. gonna spend the next couple evenings sampling them with the wife. life is tough.

nah, it's just a different version of bullshit. but thank you. it sure beats scrubbing shitters or flipping burgers, even if it doesn't pay as good as either of those things.

you can get some of the more common LA notes on ebay for <$10.
-
no, but wife and i own two bars and we brew beer as a hobby.

lambics are "wild" fermentation belgian ales that are only made in this one little valley in belgium. framboise lambics are wild fermented with raspberries. fucking delicious. it's like fancy wine, but still beer so, y'know, manly and stuff.
-
the framboise was pricey...i think it was like $109 for a dozen 750ml bottles. but it's soooo worth it. i've really been digging on the belgians and lambics lately, and this is right at the top. got a case of founders CBS coming in tomorrow...that's the one that has me really excited this week.
-
i'm not really sure what they're worth yet. hypothetically, i wouldn't be interested in selling them, but i would be happy to donate one to another collector under the right circumstances.

got a little bit of a buzz on trying out a couple new beers we got in today. sipping on a lindeman's framboise right now. if i can keep the wife interested for long enough, we're gonna try a new belgium blackberry felix next. also drank a 4yo black butte birthday reserve earlier while we bottled up a brown ale. lots of beer related stuff tonight.

exactly. poof can joke, but if you're a collector, even confederate currency holds historical significance. the signatures and serial numbers on those notes are all written by hand. the notes were cut by hand. that shit's 150+ years old. i think it's pretty interesting.

lol i knew someone would try to crack wise. your post was close enough, i suppose. i was actually given them today. we closed an old bank down last week and these were in the shred pile. a co-worker saw them and thought they might be something, so he grabbed them and brought them to me because i'm a known coin/currency collector at the bank. they're authentic, and they're beat to hell. but i got them into a more presentable state and put them in protective holders. these are actually my first confederate currency. i have american coins that are older, but paper doesn't really have the longevity that coin does. since they're so beat up they're probably not worth a whole lot, maybe $200-$500 for the set. but i haven't researched them all enough to know if any are particularly rare and valuable. oh well, my investment at this point is a couple hours of personal time and $5 worth of currency holders, so it's a win.

i think numismatists are coin-only. not sure though.
-
ok, well maybe not brand new.. they do have a few years of age to them, but i like to think they're keepers.

been there...it doesn't work.

the only fair solution is we'd have to swap.

halloween's her favorite holiday and she has a little skill with makeup. she did mine in about 20 minutes. hers took a little longer.
